We've heard all this nonsense before about how Trump was 'going down' or couldn't win in the first place. He'll be re-elected, because the economy is good, the country is stable, the world is safer now than the day he took office. No reason for change, every reason to stay the course...

Plenty of reason for change and the majority of Americans agree. While I hope they are incorrect, many economists are worried about the direction of the economy. trump has done nothing but shed support since his election, if the economy gets worse he doesn’t have a chance.

So no concerns for taking people's private lands, or cutting through national parks, or the exorbitant costs associated with just getting the resources (like roads) in place to build the wall?

So now the liberal dream is economic collapse so they can grab power. How very patriotic...

As if the people retiring did so in order to give the seat to a democrat.

    Your arguments are pathetically weak.

Trump's shutdown is estimated to cost half a percentage point, thus far, on the first quarter's GDP.

And that is an estimate coming from the trump administration.

It was a Republican House majority prior to the election, your argument makes no sense, which is beyond weak. No surprise...

Good thing Trump increased the GDP in his first two years, at worst we'll go back to better than Obama's economy...

Democrats in the House earned 9.8 million more votes than Republicans in the House. They were elected, in significant part, because of their opposition to the wall.

And every single indicator, from support for the wall to approval for trump to deciding who is to blame for the shutdown is proving that Republicans are losing the messaging battle. You and your ilk are not enough. We learned that in 2018 and Trump decided to ignore that very basic lesson because of sycophants like yourself telling Trump that he should ignore the 2018 election results.

1.7% estimate in the first quarter of 2019.

And that damage only accelerates the longer the trump shutdown lasts.

Total BS, you need to do an actual analysis of the votes. There were millions of votes cast in unopposed districts, which skew the overall numbers. But being honest isn't a liberal trait, so we can't expect anything there. The wall was not the primary issue of the mid-term elections, pretending it is now is total folly. You folks are too much, you'll lose the House in 2020 and Trump will get re-elected. I will be laughing when it happens...

How not? You folks have been chomping at the bit for economic calamity since Trump turned things around. It completely shows the failure of liberal economic policy, you cannot win in 2020 if the economy is strong...

Trump won in 2016 because he won the electoral vote. He knew what he needed to do, went to those states, targeted the people that he needed to win, and he'll do it again. Democrats taking the House and doing nothing of note, will not keep them in the House in 2020, and so far they are off to a pretty poor start...

Americans including top democrats voted for a wall even before Trump was POTUS.

I know the left is big on making someone else pay for things, but the wall is going up.

You mean the criminals who by definition don't follow the law?

Exactly. Would you be ok with Trump and Congress making changes to current law to help stop gun violence by these criminals?

Or do you think thoughts & prayers are enough?

Yes they did. Nobody is debating that ? AND the wall they voted for WAS built.

But you and yours are making this simplistic when it is not this simple. Democrats all agree that we have enough wall, and they also believe that the border security we need is NOT the wall, but more/better technology, manpower, and logistics.

Its very disingenuous to the debate to claim democrats are for open borders, and for allowing MS13 to kill everyone, and free drugs, and that they want americans to die because the only people coming across the borders are murderers and rapists and gang members. The new talking points are getting farcical.

Border security comes in many forms, they just disagree with the form that the right is demanding. We don't need fences in the open desert, and we already have fences in most populated areas.

"If we don't get what we want one way or the other ... I will shut down the government," Trump said during a highly unusual fight that played out in front of the press before the official meeting began. "I am proud to shut down the government for border security. ... I will take the mantle of shutting it down."

Since all of the proposals are more of the same restrictions that have already failed, and serve only to violate the rights of law abiding gun owners-no.
