This article claims that there are now over 16 million Americans who have carry permits.

However, there's one problem. That number is incorrect.

    Why you ask?

Well, the 2nd Amendment is our permit and protects the individual right of ALL 323 million Americans to bear arms.

The 2nd Amendment is OUR permit.

Let's not forget the entire population of "constitutional carry" states.

Here's the states that as of Jan 2017 have constitutional carry:

The states in blue are debating "constitutional carry" this year.

How many more millions of people do you think that adds to the total?

That's not exactly true since the States regulate the Second Amendment in their State Constitutions by inserting police powers on the right to limit the possession of guns within their jurisdictions. Not one State Constitution provision regulating guns has ever been overturned for violating the federal Constitution.

    Typical examples:

    Colorado = http://web.lexisnexis.com/research/retrieve?pushme=1&tmpFBSel=all&totaldocs=&taggedDocs=&toggleValue=&numDocsChked=0&prefFBSel=0&delformat=FULL&fpDocs=&fpNodeId=&fpCiteReq=&expNewLead=id="expandedNewLead"&_m=6f7309c5a5853ba482188a8017884f7c&searchType=&docnum=13&_fmtstr=FULL&_startdoc=11&wchp=dGLbVzk-zSkAz&_md5=2a7613a3602f01fdba9800bec3ca659b&focBudTerms=&focBudSel=all

"NO ABSOLUTE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS. The right to bear arms is not absolute, and it can be restricted by the state's valid exercise of its police power. People v. Garcia, 197 Colo. 550, 595 P.2d 228 (1979).

The conflicting rights of the individual's right to bear arms and the state's right, indeed its duty under its inherent police power, to make reasonable regulations for the purpose of protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the people prohibits granting an absolute right to bear arms under all situations. People v. Blue, 190 Colo. 95, 544 P.2d 385 (1975).

The right to bear arms is not absolute as that right is limited to the defense of one's home, person, and property. People v. Ford, 193 Colo. 459, 568 P.2d 26 (1977).

    RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS IS NOT ABSOLUTE. Douglass v. Kelton, 199 Colo. 446, 610 P.2d 1067 (1980); People v. Pflugbeil, 834 P.2d 843 (Colo. App. 1992).

CONVICTED FELONS' RIGHTS SUBJECT TO LIMITATION. Defendants cannot invoke the same constitutionally protected right to bear arms as could others where the right of a convicted felon to bear arms is subject to reasonable legislative regulation and limitation. People v. Blue, 190 Colo. 95, 544 P.2d 385 (1975)."

Liberals should have thought harder before they shoved the gay marriage down the states throats with the 14th amendment.

    The BoR is the BoR.

Marriage is a law contract between two consenting adults. End of story. Your bitterness won't change that.

As far as "shoving down their throats" if you weren't paying attention to the federalism lesson in high school, then there's no hope for you.

Wasn't my point, but thanks for playing.

I don't care what two rainbow clad people do, as long as it's not something I have to deal with. I wouldn't want people promoting orgys in school either.

The point, o ye of little reading, is that if the 14th amendment applies to one right the states can't regulate, it applies to them all.

Thanks for proving my original point.

You mean like belonging to a party that had their worst fund raising in like forever, and have the lowest number of representatives since Reconstruction?

Yeah, that would sting like mad.

    Keep up the "resist" bro.

So it is gays that are scaring the NRA members into carrying concealed weapons?

The only thing stopping a bad gay with a marriage permit is a good guy with a gun?

    :roflol:

That puts it all into perspective!

    Thanks Vman!

Someone finally explained the gun fetish in terms that make sense as to why it is called a penis substitute!

Gays scare the shits out of NRA members!

You should try reading for comprehension. Read slowly and try not to let your liberal bias clog your synapses.

The 14th amendment was ruled to apply to gay marriage, forcing the states to recognize it.

If the 14th amendment applies to gay marriage, it applies to the entire BoR to include the 2A of course.

Gay people should start carrying guns, as liberal policies encouraging muslim immigration puts them in serious danger.

What he's saying is that these things are all subject to the strict scrutiny test for state interest, and that if you rabidly hold one amendment to the letter of the words you have to do the same for the rest subject to the same constitutional test.

Not all gun owners are gun fetishists but gun fetishists deserve to be exposed because they are responsible for the abhorrent gun culture that sacrifices innocents on the bloody high alter of the NRA!

Actually you couldn't be more wrong. It's the gang bangers that are doing the killing.

And again, not everyone that owns guns or even the "gun fetishists" have anything to do with the NRA.

Government shouldn't be in the marriage business in the first place.

It's generally illegally owned guns which are the most dangerous.

What a bunch of freaking homophobes! LOL!

A man comfortable with his sexuality doesn't need a gun to prove he's a man.

What I said was about the application of the law, and the examples I used were just examples.

I should have known better than use the words "gay" and "guns" as that tends to short circuit the lot of them.

The whole gay marriage trend has only been around for maybe 20 years, the transgender craze is only about 5 years old.

If gays and trannies were really protected under the US Const. then they would have been listed in 1789.

They were listed in the BoR in 1791 under the 9th Amendment.
