I thought we were all told that Europe is a progressive feminist paradise. Why then are there stricter regulations on abortions in Europe than America?
Who is "we" ? "We" were told? By whom? Who told "we" that? Why not give Europe a call and ask their 'we" if what your "we" heard was true..?? I never heard that Europe was a feminist paradise......guess I'm not a "we"..... Want to try to have a POINT in this thread or is "No Point" your signature?
You thought you were told? Either you have been told that or you haven’t. Do you have any examples of anyone actually telling you that? They’d be wrong of course, not least because there is no such thing as European abortion regulations. Each European country has its own laws and regulations on abortion and they vary massively because Europe is a vast region with extensive political, social and religious diversity.
The European's laws are more sensible, even though they is little organized opposition to abortion in most of these countries compared to the US. Most of these countries also have universal health care while extremist groups like Planned Parenthood oppose single payer. Of course if we had universal health care there would be little need for PP but they have the democrat party in their pocket, just as the NRA has the republican party in their pocket.
Well, they can't be better at us in everything right? They take care of their citizens basic needs better on one hand, but don't understand that a 13 week old fetus has no mind and is not a person on the other. And it's not the first appalling thing I have heard about them. They don't respect free speech, for example.
I was taught constantly as a child in school, in movies and TV, in literature, that America is the land of freedom. So imagine my utter shock when I discover there are actually people trying to control a uterus. Seems so antithetical to the very idea of freedom that you can simply decree that a woman's body is no longer hers to control. In this country we consider it an invasion of our privacy when Facebook sells the data we willingly put on it, but then we ignore real invasions of privacy, of the ultimate privacy even. Durr durr durrrrrrrrrrrr America!
That's pretty much been thrown out the window by this point. The only holdout is some level of gun rights, but even that they've been gradually chiseling away at.
So do you think that's a good thing? Yup, just like Anti-Choicers have been chiseling away at women's rights , which is in reality, everyone's rights...
