I think most folks have got used to this virus, going around wearing masks, going about their daily routine. It seemed a lot of folks were down right scared back in March and April, now they adjusted their routine and it has become more or less business as usual. Once these things become part of the daily routine, little thought is given to it.

9-11 was one incidence, there was no time to get use to things like that happening. In fact, none have happened since. When folks adjust to different situations over time as most have with the virus, it becomes just another part of one's daily routine. Unless one knows someone who has died or became sick, it is just another day.

Now I live out in the country and have to drive 5 miles to the nearest grocery store. That store is just a busy and crowed as it was prior to the virus, the only difference is everyone is wearing a mask. The same for Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, Dollar General around 10 miles from me, everyone wearing a mask, but outside of that, one wouldn't know the virus exists.

It may be completely different in the big cities, I don't know. I never liked big cities, never go into Atlanta. It must have been over 20 years since I set foot in that city. The thing is folks around me have adjusted and are taking the virus in stride as part of everyday living.

Those fearful of a virus like flu, and conditioned to believe that the mask will protect them from that virus will continue to admire the emperor's new clothes.

Men go mad in herds, and recover their senses slowly, and only one by one. True in 1880 and still true today.

Only 3 countries had a Summer Wave; U.S., Peru, and Australia.

Prior to our Second Wave, we've lowered our daily cases to 20,000

Prior to our Fall Wave, we've lowered our daily cases to 40,000, and since then, our daily cases 7-day average increased to 180,000, thus, a 350% increase.

Thus, prior to a Second wave/Fall wave, had we lowered our daily cases to 10,000 versus 20,000, today's daily cases 7-day average would be at 45,000 versus 180,000.

Conclusion; Our biggest screw up was our PREVENTABLE Second Wave.

You said I appeal to emotions. Do you feel any about 275 thousand people dead! And probably close to half a million before all this is all over. Most (the majority) due to Trump's incompetence.

Do you or do you not care? Simple question...

I think what you describe is true for any city in the country that has decided to not take the appropriate steps to stop the spread. Exactly the same where I live The suburbs of a mid-size city. Wearing masks in stores is a big step forward, otherwise the number of dead would be over a million. But that's something that, in most places, it's the stores themselves that enforce it.

These things become way more dangerous when they are accepted as "routine". Terrorism is exactly the same. As are corrupt politicians. And many other things. I will never accept any of it as routine.

I think most folks around me have accepted the virus and the wearing of masks as routine. Part of leaving the house to go shopping. But as I said, I live out in the country where there's plenty of space, no one lives on top of another. I've heard from my son in law our county hospital has had between 10-20 cases over the last 6 months or so. He works as a nurse there. All of them were folks who commute to work, drive back and forth to Atlanta. So I think the mindset set is wear a mask, stay away from Atlanta and you're pretty safe.

Population density seems to be the biggest help for the virus to spread, people living on top of each other, riding public transportation, the airport, etc. Living in the country has its advantages, although we don't have any exciting entertainment venues. High School Football was one, but it was canceled. So there's really nothing around for a large group of people to attend. Around here folks are pretty adaptable and make whatever adjustments necessary. Then get along with their lives.

So what is happening as far as church attendance is concerned? Do the people in your rural area wear masks while worshipping, praying, singing, etc?

I'm not a church goer, but driving around I've seen several churches with signs out front saying to tune in radio station so and so at such and such a time or to go to internet address so and so for the worship service. I've seen a couple of churches with open signs, but not many. So how they're doing it, I haven't the faintest idea.

Since pretty much everyone is wearing masks everywhere they go, I would imagine it would be the same for going to church or Home Depot or any other store. But that is just a SWAG. Now when one goes out wearing a mask is just part of the daily routine. I'd say pretty much accepted by everyone.

Accepted but not necessarily practiced. I never wear a mask except for visits to medical facilities. Being retired, I spend alot of time at home.

As far as the virus is concerned our only hope is a vaccine and now there is one. Perfected by British and Belgium scientists it is well over 90% effective. But its not American I hear you say, what the hell's that has to do with it, Americans are dying in their thousands every day. I don't care if it was made in Timbuktu as long as it works, our Queen and her Consort will take the vaccine. A final word to the American Drug industry, Give it free to all and for once forget you're crazy health charges.

Church is limited to twice a week, one hour each. Only one song is sung. People wear masks and social distance during the entire service.

I'm retired also. I never wear one at home or out in the yard or even driving. But when I go inside a store, doctor's office and the like, I wear one.

When visiting our family doctor, one goes in and signs the roster, then they have you wait in your car and call you when it's your turn. Took the dogs to the vet last week, they also have you wait in the car, come out and get the dogs, then once done they return the dogs to you in your car. No going in. The restaurants around here are all take out or drive through. That's nothing new to me as I like to get my food and return home and eat while watching TV or an old movie.

Thanks, that makes sense and seems to be what most sensible and rational people are doing in my area which is also rural.

I would even take the Chinese virus given that it has proven to be even more effective however you are correct that Big Pharma is a serious obstacle to health in general here in the states and given that the Pandemic is a national health crisis this could violate Profiteering statutes in times of national crisis.

I think a lot of people who don't wear masks may wear masks if they thought it effective to protect themselves from others, rather than to protect others from them. People are selfish.

Of course we dont. But we think the government can and should take steps to minimize its impact. To ramp up and co-ordinate production of needed medical supplies. Provide relief for those portions of the economy hit the hardest.

I knew MANY people who died in those towers. I have worked in the markets for the past 25 years. Dont pretend to take some position of superiority because you know someone who died. I remember it well. I remember exactly where I was. Even what I was wearing. I will NEVER forget that day. EVER.

And I have never ever heard such a thing about 9/11 moment of silence being called racist at "some colleges". I cant even find anything on a fast google search. Where can I find anything about this?

Might be but it would appear to be that he was correct, they alone haven't had a fall wave ...
