I am comparing Cities with high crime, and restrictive gun control, and those without. You are assuming the noose is not already tied and the blade not already sharpened. Mexican cartels supply many of the guns used in crime in the US. It is already tough enough economically as it is, making it more so would be infringing on more peoples rights. Australia did confiscate the weapons of its citizenry and Switzerland has mandatory gun ownership. New York had the Second amendment but that did not stop them. Who is to say that the nation cannot end up the same way?

So, if your argument is that you cannot effectively implement gun control in an area that has no effective borders with areas where there is gun proliferation, I agree. Does the requirement for driver training before getting a license, and the high cost of vehicles infringe on people's ability right to assembly? A piece of pipe, cut off at an extreme angle, can be screwed to other pipe (after being concealed when "taken apart). then you've got both a club and a stabbing instrument. One in each hand, 2 ft long, and you can really do a lot of damage, really swiftly, as in 20 people stabbed to death in less than 20 seconds. 10 seconds if you've got them trapped in a small room, especially if they are little kids. Guns are not needed in order for a human to be a monster. Guns ARE needed to resist tyrants, tho. which is why tyrants hate them so much, and don't care about knives so much.
