What about having a gun makes someone a coward?

If I call 911, the BEST police response time I could hope for would be half an hour. That is best case: good weather, daytime, nobody calling in sick, no major calls going on at the same time. 45 minutes is more common, over an hour is anything but impossible.

Anyone who resorts to violence is a coward.

Resorting to a gun is the ultimate in cowardice.

He clearly lives his life in constant, irrational terror of everything around him. He might need professional help.

Owning a gun is not a violent act.

Here is the definition of a coward.

Coward - a person who shrinks from or avoids danger, pain, or difficulty.

I am unable to find a definition of the word coward that lists gun ownership.

    au contraire

People who carry guns are the ones who live in constant fear.

Cowards, every last one of them.

Sometimes uneducated people confuse responsible actions with cowardice. Responsibility and reliability are key factors in owning a gun. If you have both, you are fine. It's not like I go around brandishing my firearm, it stays tucked away, hidden from sight, and a reminder that America may not be the most dangerous place to live, but it is a great place to live. With greatness, evil always follows. I'm seeing that I am being painted a coward for shooting a man who tries to rape my daughter. I'm the coward here, not the rapist. Good logic.

Wow, this thread has certainly gone downhill from yesterday.

One thing I've been able to discern though is that people who own guns are not trying to force gun ownership on the ones who oppose it, but people who oppose guns and don't own them don't want anyone to have them.

In other words, some people are in favor of choice and others are anti-choice.

The right to bear arms is a good thing, it will provide us as the last defense of ourselves against any government that become rogue and against its own people.

Back on topic, guns in AMERICA. Responsibility is key in ownership, am I alone in this? Also, Uncle Meats posts are considered irrelevant until he can post logical comments, all others will be denied. Grow up man.

    You are not alone.

My handgun has one in the chamber at all times, but while at home is locked in a biometric safe that only myself or my wife may access.

I plan on allowing my daughter to inspect my guns whenever her curiosity strikes her(safety checked of course). I think demystifying guns is vital to teaching children to be responsible around them.

Thank you! I do the exact same. I keep my rifles and shotguns, along with my pistols locked in my Browning safe. I keep my ammunition locked in a fire resistant small safe in the garage where it is cool. My two daughters and my son take apart all of my weapons with me, they all know how to safely operate and handle firearms. It is not a joke when it comes to weapon safety. My wife is an expert marksman and she carries two pistols herself. I don't see the big deal about it, being safe and knowledgeable is the best way to handle any weapon. No reason to be afraid of it.

Yep, it all comes down to personal responsibility.

In my eyes a responsible gun owner will always be a better citizen than the non gun owning type.
