Honor killings always existed in that part of the world even among Christians. It was common in the villages of Greece up until recently, and has to do with being humiliated in the eyes of one's peers. Especially if that person was outspoken and hyper critical of others and then to find out his own family members were doing the same thing.

Honor killing probably predates Islam. The problem with the Arabs, is that they incorporated their cultural standards into their faith so that it's more akin to nationalism than a faith.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against people being proud of their cultural values and standards as well as their heritage, and no one should impose their own on others as being superior whether it's Western liberalism or fundamentalist Islam, but excessive pride in one's standards hinders growth in all aspects and therefore makes it evil by its very existence.

If people didn't open up and learn from others, we would still be wielding clubs - and I mean everyone, including us.

And if he was crazy and didn't have a gun, he would have used an axe. Better a gun. I always supported guns, because I know that the first thing the Ottomans did when they wanted to massacre people was take away their guns.

It wasn't difficult. First they would take the elders into custody and then tell them they would be released when everyone handed in their guns. They would then hand the guns they confiscated to the local Turks, and that would be the end of that.

I'm very suspicious of those who want to ban guns.

I think a Christian would say the same thing, that they are Christians first and an American second. Their problem is that they're not aware of what our country is doing and assume it's following their Christian values.

I'm sure Americans supported the bombings in Syria, Iraq, and Libya, even though they were killing civilians. And I'm sure if we started bombing Venezuela they would support that as well.

How many Americans were against our support and Israel's support of Al Nusra/Al Queda in Syria who were killing Christians non stop, and did they know about it and did they care?

Seems like wife #2 hated wife number 1# and his daughters, and had some kind of demonic influence over her husband and first son. These things happened a lot in the past, especially among royal families.

Firing a missile at a building causing the whole block to be destroyed is randomly dropping bombs. Dropping a daisy cutter destroying several square miles is randomly dropping bombs. Oh, but how "you" cheered. But hey, just collateral damage, isn't it!

And what's stopping them? How many of the armchair cheer leaders eating their pop corn have access to bombs to drop on Iranian cities.

Don't know of any daisy cutter being dropped but, if it was, it likely wasn't 'random'. never cheer at bombs dropping, btw. That would be our Muslim friends.

That's pretty much common knowledge, isn't it? But hate is too strong a word; they're to be pitied as much as scorned. Personally I blame the education system.

I think there is a major diffference between terrorists, who deliberately try to kill women and children, and military operations which sometimes kill civilians by accident while trying to get at
an enemy that deliberately hides among them. The onnus in the latter case is on those who use human shields for cover. No one ever said war was a good thing (at least not since the Romans)
but armies in modern times have regarded targeting civilians as more heinous than targeting enemy combatants and killing civilians by misfortune.
