Yep just look how well restrictive gun laws are working in Mexico. oh wait.....

Secure the damn border and perhaps Mexico wouldn't resemble Afghanistan.

If the government knows who is purchasing weapons through universal gun background check we will be safer. Require the licensing of all guns/ mandatory safety classes is a good compromise with 2nd amendment.

He was a felon, which means he can't legally own a gun both by federal, and Washington states laws.

Incidents like this is the result of all the hate-filled, inflamatory, rhetoric so commonly used by the the left. When Liberals say that only "fascists" oppose open borders violence becomes
inevitable. When people call Trump a "fascist" because they don't like his policies that fans the flames of intolerance and leads to violence like the 2017 shooting at the Republican baseball
practice in Alexandria. When college students feel they have the right to shout down any speakers they don't like they are showing more intolerance than Trump.

The Latest: Friend says man wanted to provoke deadly fight

Deb Bartley, who tells the Times she has been a friend of Willem Van Spronsen's for about 20 years, described him as an anarchist and anti-fascist, and believes his attack on the detention center intending to provoke a fatal conflict.

"He was ready to end it," Bartley told the Times. "I think this was a suicide. But then he was able to kind of do it in a way that spoke to his political beliefs . I know he went down there knowing he was going to die."

She says that she and other friends of Van Spronsen got letters in the mail "just saying goodbye." He also wrote what she referred to as a manifesto, which she declined to discuss in detail, the Times reports.

Looks like this was pre planned violence for political purposes, and he even wrote a manifesto-presumably a communist manifesto.

    Sounds like terrorism.

I don’t necessarily disagree with this to a certain point, I’m a big 2A guy. I have a shooting range right in my back yard, but again...gun control has nothing to do with purchasing flares, flare guns, or even potentially just making Molitoff cocktails to use as an incindiary device to throw at propane tanks or vehicles.

Although you're being facetious, robster, I couldn't agree more! Yes, when you find a snake in your bed, the best thing to do is get it out.

I might add that it would probably be a good idea to cut its head off and throw it in the garbage, but some 'snowflake' would probably bitch to the moderators and, once again, one of my posts would likely be deleted, even though, after all, I'm only talking about a venomous reptile....

Well unfortunately for you, that would be illegal, your description of undesirables is completely politicaly motivated, as well as shameless. As far as undesirables, there is always the other side of the coin :)

You raised a valid question, and you should not be criticized for trying to cover all the possibilities.

That said, we now know that this America-hater was one of the ANTIFA terrorists that infest this country:

    Link: https://www.foxnews.com/us/washington-man-killed-at-ice-detention-center-manifesto

    From the story:

The 69-year-old armed man killed by Washington state police as he attacked a local Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center Saturday sent a manifesto to friends the day before the assault in which he wrote "I am Antifa," and was being lionized by members of the leftwing group as a "martyr."

The group Seattle Antifascist Action described assailant Willem Van Spronsen a "good friend and comrade" who "took a stand against the fascist detention center in Tacoma" and "became a martyr who gave his life to the struggle against fascism."

[IMG] .That's one down... and many more to go.... :flagus:

Probably to most Americans, especially those who were indoctrinated with the late Howard Zinn's Peoples History of the United States, 'anarchist' means a gentle idealist -- someone like the martyrs Sacco and Vanzetti.

In reality, until the allegiance of radical leftists switched to Communism after the Russian Revolution, many American anarchists were extremely violent. The violent tendency were called 'Galeanists' and they were involved in a series of bombing campaigns in the US in the second decade of the 20th Century. (Incidentally, Sacco and Vanzetti were probably involved in these.) The Wiki article on them describes them this way:

Their main virtue seems to have been their incompetence, like the Weathermen who wanted to bomb GIs and their dates at Fort Dix, and ended up blowing themselves up. (They should have waited, as their leaders did, and they could have been advisors to Mr Obama.).

To be fair, American society at that point was much more violent than it is today. To get a feel for the sort of thing that happened then, read about the Ludlow Massacre. I think it's interesting that the New York Times article on this incident makes no reference at all to his Anti-Fa/anarchist affiliation. Now, if he had indeed been a 'right-wing nutjob', as someone incautiously opined here, and a Trump supporter .... I wonder what the headlines would have been?

Those early "anarchists" (commie agitators) were enough for the US to stop immigration from Europe for some time.

If this had been a "Right Wing Nut Job" it would be the lead story on the news and front page on all the newspapers. But since it was a left-wing nut job, the media is brushng it under the rug. My local
newspaper didn't mention it at all.

EVENT: AOC's Campaign of HATE inspires Crazed Murderous Bomber.

Left Wing's take: TOTAL DENIAL that the event even happened as evidenced by the total LACK of media coverage OR they blame it on guns!

    Wow.

Does the Left Wing have any shame?

Or are they really that clueless?

You don't think AOC through her daily rhetoric is pushing people like this over the edge to do things like this?

Unless you have a GROSS double standard, then I can only assume that you would also say the following:

AOC is inciting violence which should not be tolerated. She continues to divide the country and damage institutions critical to American democracy. Let's not forget that AOC has been attacking ICE for well over a year and without their expertise and leadership last week, this guy could have seriously harmed one or more persons. Investigations need to be held into AOC's continued violent rhetoric and her attack on American values. I'm sick and tired of the culture she's creating...its sick, its indecent and mostly its anti-American.
