    We have a population around six times that of Italy, yet they've had roughly twice as many deaths as we have.

    What kind of voodoo math tells you that those numbers are favorable?

    Spain also has far more deaths, despite having far fewer people...

    I do not want to see paper fold. My business buys ads monthly in our local paper just to help it along.

    That being said I do think it is inevitable some will as we simple have too much news media now. Not all of it will survive. The extremely biased ones (hey NYT looking at you!) better make sure there is a market for their opinion based news if they want to stay in business.

    Media outlets are just businesses like all other businesses...survival of the fittest. But when a community gets down to their last media outlet I suggest that community do everything in their power to keep it open.

    NYT has factual news and opinion news...it is incumbent upon the reader to understand the difference...

    The numbers are setup in a way as to present whatever conclusion they want to push. This is why they use "number of cases" instead of per capita data. It is very dishonest but some folks buy into the nonsense.

    Agree on the first.

    Seeing less and less on the second. A proud newspaper that has slipped into opinion over facts IMO. It's sad to me, they have been and should be a American chronicle for all of us.

    There's nothing, and I mean nothing, that's in the local paper that I can't find online.

    40 years ago I'd have agreed with you. But far more community news in now archived online than damn near any paper could have.

    It's not that I don't respect or understand their service, it's that they're no longer necessary...

    The success of their business isn't in question - it is whether or not their 'behind the scenes' folks still have jobs. If they are not filming as much from the studio - obeying 'stay at home' for as many as possible - are they still paying their staff? Or are they still in full swing, filming from the studio as much as ever. That was the question. But you are free to continue telling us all how successful they are. Matters little to me.

    It goes against human nature to do otherwise. Nobody is talking about kissing anyone's backside. I am talking about being under constant assault, why would Trump help the Media? The airline industry hasn't attacked Trump and they haven't kissed his back side either. CNN, PMSNBC, the New York Slimes could all disappear and it would matter a bit.

    You can't use the word "facts" and CNN or the NY Slimes in the same sentence without laughing out loud.
    Any "news" outlet panicking people on purpose is tantamount to yelling "fire" in a crowded theater and should have the same results.
