Being a transvestite as you describe is not the same as being transgender/transsexual.

Personally speaking no because I am very self conscious about my genitalia. But I don't see a serious issue with that.

It's alright! I understand completely. There are certain qualia that are defined by biology. I will never be pregnant or have a period. That makes it so I will never have those experiences of being a woman. But those aren't the defining traits of womanhood. There is something more to womanhood then simple biology. It's the whole social identity that I'm trying to go for. So here's another example, I give out more compliments. Before when I was in the closet I couldn't compliment people on how they looked. Now I can freely give out compliments on how another person looks.

My understanding of it is that transvestites still identify with their sex but prefer wearing the clothes of the opposite gender. So for me I am a transsexual because I don't agree with my sex.

Fair enough, not too sure if anyone has a defining trait for humanity that people completely agree with though. I'm sorry! The philosopher in me is getting ready to get into a semantic argument and it's like trying to hold someone back.

I think then we both agree that there is a difference between freedom of action and liberty. Do you think that this is right or am I missing something else.

So then it seems like we need to start talking about the rights of minorities. Just for the sake of keeping it civil, let's stick with something like the freedom of speech. How would you go about protecting a person's right to voice a dissenting opinion?

Please allow me to remind you of the thread title

    Ask someone who's transgender anything!

I saw no disclaimers made and also, this is a public forum.

I applaud Krane for creating this thread. It's pure specualtion as to why he created it. Perhaps he is wrestling with the idea that maybe he's wrong and not the rest of the world, or maybe he is sincere and wants to try and educate us as to how someone arrives at the state of mind that he's in.

None of the posts within this thread have been personal attacks toward him.

It's female pronouns, I am a woman. So please use female pronouns when talking about me.

You know, there are those that you might classify as woman then, that can not do any of the above in the offspring category. Because they may not exist, or have become damaged. Now what? They then, by your definition wold not be a woman. But I bet there are a few more definitions you conveniently left off.

I also gave the definition of woman. While it seems you were giving it for female. So yes, we are talking about different words.
    Here:
    female
    Top 1000 frequently used words
    Pronunciation: /ˈfēˌmāl/
    ADJECTIVE

1Of or denoting the sex that can bear offspring or produce eggs, distinguished biologically by the production of gametes (ova) that can be fertilized by male gametes:
    a herd of female deer
    More example sentences
1.1Relating to or characteristic of women or female animals:
    a female audience
    a female name
    More example sentences Synonyms
1.2(Of a plant or flower) having a pistil but no stamens.
    Example sentences
1.3(Of parts of machinery, fittings, etc.) manufactured hollow so that a corresponding male part can be inserted.

So, as I was stating. A woman now may not be a female?
But there is the definition 1.1 - characteristics. Hmm, what characteristics?
It gets fuzzy when we are dealing with the cross between a male/man and female/woman. And a small group of animals, humans included, don't have a 100% clear cut break between the 2 classes.

What about women who claim you calling yourself a "she" is highly insulting and offensive to them no different that a white man telling blacks to call him an African American and then demanding racial equality because he claims he's black, though in fact he's white? Because he "self identifies" as black?

What life experiences do you have as a girl and woman? What challenges as a female did you face as a little girl? In the centuries of women fighting for equality, your sex was the opponent. They were not fighting for men to have the right to be women, they were fighting for equal rights for women who are genetic women. Way up the list was fighting for control of their own bodies in relation to being pregnant, an issue of no relevancy to you. You do not have to worry about rape pregnancy. You will never have to worry about your spouse trying to force you to get pregnant and you can't die in birthing labor.

Lying to claim minority or oppression benefits or gains is very popular. Elizabeth Warren would lie and say she's Native American or claim she is white, depending which better served her. She's white. Hillary Clinton claims all her grandparents were immigrants while speaking to Latinos, when 3 of the 4 were not. People are not obligated to declare agreement to what they see as a false claim someone is making about him/herself.

It would seem that you could refer to yourself however you want to, but people also can refer to you however they want to. Many people, including women, will accept your claim that you are transgender. That does not require they accept that you are a female or a woman and millions, probably tens of millions and billions worldwide do not agree with you. Rather, that you are a transgender man who self identifies to himself as and tries to act like a female for whatever reasons you do.

    Here's a question...

How many trans-phobic men do you figure, live in terror that they'll discover, after sex, that the woman they were with....used to be a man?

And that in their minds, they think it means they're "gay"?

How do you respond to this:
You say you identify as a woman, even though you look like a man (I'm assuming you do look 100% male?).
Can other people, based on how I described you, say back to you, 'i don't identify you as a woman'.

Or if they don't know you and call you 'he, him, etc,' how do you respond?

How is someone supposed to know if a person is transgendered or not? Especially if all we have to go by is how one looks?

I think we should save this for another topic. I'm not really good at arguing from a philosophical angle. I'm more of a logical and rational person. What is, is.

Yeah I think so. You have the freedom to do whatever you want, you don't however have the liberty if that makes any sense.

Simple, by saying he has the right. I'm for the freedom to carry a gun openly for example. However I don't advise it for many reasons.

Male. I'm pretty sure those with girl parts were surgically placed there.

    Never heard of female blood.
I also remember reading/hearing something a few years ago where the chromosomes aren't always the same size, or something to that effect.
You see, the world is not picture perfect, thing are not XX, YY, etc, sometimes things get messed up.
    And female bones?
    All those things aren't exclusive.
Some women, have female parts that don't work. Some creatures, humans included have both male/female parts.

Some women are way more masculine than some men. There is no 100% this or that.

do you think i should be required by law to recognize your current gender-identification, and be fined or jailed if I instead choose to indentify you by your biological/birth gender?

Other than what are rare birth oddities, there is inherent bone structure differences. Women have a lower center of gravity due to having shorter legs in ratio to their overall height and due to wider hips to allow a larger birthing path. Shorter legs for height thus lowering center of gravity allows more balance when in full term pregnancy.

This is why regardless of hormones male track runners will be faster than women. It also is why with other appearance cosmetic surgery a SRS transwoman will do better in a female beauty contest than a woman because long legs are considered beautiful in a woman - and a genetic male will have longer legs for his height.

typically, in general, one's gender can be identified simply by their skeletal structure.

also, men have a prostate. women do not.

women have vagina, ovaries, uterus, womb, cervix. men do not.

women in general are shorter. and have smaller hands and much less muscle mass.

women distribute fat very different then men.

its ignorant to deny the physical/biological differences between men and women

There is a simple test in terms of gender of anyone of ordinary weight.

Put a folding metal chair in front of both a man and a woman - both with their backs against the wall - buttocks against the wall and legs straight. The test is simple. Bend over and pick up the chair without bending your legs and keeping your buttocks against the wall. A genetic female can do it. A genetic male can't. This is due to the woman having a lower center of gravity. Try it yourself. But again, this is for people of average weight.

Women's bodies also process food and liquid more efficiently. If a man and a woman of equal body fat percentage in identical setting and activity are both denied water, the man will die of thirst first. Denied food and the man will die of starvation first. There are different theories as to why males and females evolved to have this difference. Some claim it is because male muscle use and burn more. Others claim it is because women are designed to feed 2 (pregnancy) while men will tend to take food for himself first if a natural uncivilized setting and therefore the females most efficiently using food and water more likely will bear children thus increasing that trait over the generations.

Men clearly can develop more muscle mass, but gram per gram female muscle is stronger. This also may have something to do with females needing less food more likely assures survival to procreate - which also is considered why females tend to be smaller. Less need for food means more likely surviving to have offspring. Setting aside monogamy, which isn't natural, survival of females is the more decisive factor in population growth, not males.

The massive amounts of steroids in the meats people eat is dramatically changing some physical aspects of men and women.

    funny u mention that.

im always wondering why the men on "Naked and Afraid" always lose more weight.

first answer I got was the men do more work. but there may be something more biological to it.

Yeah this is one of the things that has to be talked about as well. Talking about gender identity talks about other types of identities as well. Race is another one. Race is just like gender identity, it's social constructed yet seems to have a biological basis in it as well. So then what about mixed race, what race are they?

I don't have experiences of being a girl growing up. I wasn't allowed to have them. Because of that I suffer to this day. I really wish I could have felt comfortable putting on makeup growing up or letting my hair grow long when I was younger. But I will never have those experiences. So I have to make do. As for women thinking men are the enemy, that's some Lesbian Separatism which is not what I see the history of feminism as. It makes more sense to think of it as people saying no to rigid gender norms that restrict a person's liberty.

Also, I do have very serious concerns about sexual assault. Chances are I will be sexually assaulted some time in my life for being transgender.

I don't know what Hillary Clinton has to do with my thread but I can safely say this about me: I wish I never was transgender. I don't wish I was born in the right body because who knows if I would still be transgender and then going through the same pain then. I hate being transgender, I would not wish the pain of being in the closet on anyone. I wonder every day if my parents are going to kick me out of the house before the end of summer because I want to be happy. I wonder if people are going to harass me on the streets simply because I'm walking down them. Honestly, I'm giving up a lot just to be happy.

Sure! That's probably what a lot of people do, and no matter what that's always another identity that a person can take. But this kind of leads us to another question: should we act on those beliefs? What do you think about that?
