Not because Trump's doing anything different than the other Presidents, but because he is the only one that is being honest about keeping the oil. So what else did Assad say in his interview.

He said Erdogan is a thief. He specified that he's not calling him a name, but that he's been stealing factories and machinery, and now land as well.

One has to admire Assad and the way he has been able to fight off the US, UK, Fr, KSA, Israel, Qatar and Jordan for so many years. One thing he said though that is puzzling considering how logical he is in the interview. He said Syria does not recognize Israel because they came out of no where and took over the land. But couldn't that be said about others as well?

He tried to explain why Turkey is recognized as a country by Syria, even though they came out of no where and took over Anatolia. Then again, if we go even further back into history, didn't the Arabs come out of no where as well and take over the Middle East and N. Africa? In Turkey all the Christians were ethnically cleansed In the past 150 years, and more recently they were ethnically cleansed in Syria and Iraq by terrorists.

Assad's logic is skewed by Islam - either that or there's politics at play here. Can he say differently and survive?

It's a very long interview, but it is interesting and informative, that is if you have the patience.

He's a liar.. Trump made that up on the spur of the moment. There is little to no oil left in Eastern Syria.

Exxon thinks he's an effing moron.. They don't do war zones.

Yep. He's been very resilient. I remember the fake media saying: "The Assad regime is days away from falling."

Oils growth and importance is now on the downside as more and more emphasis is being laced on electric vehicles and I just saw where China just flew test flights of an electric plane successfully. If we can master Fusion to generate our electricity oil will plummet in value.

Or Defended Saudi Arabia as a place of religious freedom where human rights are respected.
Or claimed that ISIS was not related to Al Qaeda
Or claimed that the ideology of ISIS/Al Qaeda has nothing to do with Wahhabism

And too many to count other claims that are either demonstrably false or are akin to denying that water is wet.

Currently there is a glut of oil on the market.. If demand increases Syria has untouched oil and gas reserves off the Med Sea coast... But the US won't be developing that. Assad signed it over to Putin last year.

True enough and, IMO, the moves by the US regarding Iran and Venezuela are mainly to keep their oil off the market, keeping the price higher in order to make fracking profitable.

That being said, Trump's pronouncements about keeping Syria's oil, whatever its worth, amounts to thievery the whole world sees. Maybe he's done us all a favor in ripping off the mask.

Now, if he would only be so honest about how opium production in Afghanistan has gone from near zero under the Taliban to record production under the US occupation, all while declaring an opioid crisis here at home .......

    I agree..

That said Trump's remarks about taking Syrian oil are really weird.

Putin did a lot for Assad. Had it not been for Russia, they would have all been under sharia law. Other than the military costs, Russia was also providing food and other necessities - with the UN of course. The US knows it will never gain anything from Syria, other some stolen pittance. But Washington being Washington...

Before our invasion we were paying the Taliban to stop growing poppies. If the latest is to be believed, they're thinking of switching to saffron - which might be as equally profitable as opium.

Syria is a liability, but I'm sure Putin can handle it.

One minute you're mentioning the oil and gas off shore in Syria, and the next minute you're saying Syria's a liability. So what is it Margot? It can't be both profitable and a liability?

Anyway Putin said that Syria was good training for his men, and the costs would have been the same had they trained in Russia. As for the jets, Russia has the fuel.

There are oil and gas reserves in the Med offshore and I am sure that Russia will develop them when market demand warrants. Who knows when that will be. Gas demand in Europe is flat .. All the demand is in Asia.

Meanwhile, Syria is a money pit that is going to cost Russia dearly... and Assad is still an uncooperative boob. He turned down the constitution that Russia provided. Assad doesn't want to give up any power.

No we weren't.. The Taliban are a pretty hard nosed version of Islam and they get a lot wrong particularly when it comes to females, education, kites and music.. They cracked down on opium without encouragement from us.

When the US is in charge opium production soars.

We all know what your agenda is: To serve as an apologist for the Democratic party and the Saudi dictatorship. Truly disgraceful.

And it's a shame the forum's rules prevent us from describing you in more precise terms.

At the height of it's oil production Syria was tied at number 59 in the world with the Ivory coast. Not exactly a market maker.

No.. After a couple of years its pretty clear you blame everything on Saudi Arabia and/or the US.. Makes no sense in the face of reality.

So what is it that matters to you.. Its it peace in the Middle East and some sort of reconciliation or justice for the Palestinians.. or what?

You have never been to Saudi Arabia... so why the damning focus?

    Long story short, in GeoPolitics.

The Global Deep State, including International Bankers who are looking to grow the "global economy" at the expense of all the middle and lower class people of The West.

They = Democrats, NeoCons, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, EU.

Wanted to build a pipeline from Qatar/SA region, through Syria and Iraq, up to the EU. This would effectively cut off Russia's oil and gas dominance of Europe.

In 2014, to start this, they began the coup in Ukraine, as well as attempting to overthrow Assad in Syria. At the same time, they began to demonize Putin and Russia, who was obviously against this idea. Remember, before all of this, Obama was trying to be friends with Russia, including the "hot mic" incident.

This has failed, the "Patriots" of the United States are in the process of destroying the Deep State, Europeans are doing the same over there, and Putin gave them a big middle finger from the beginning.

Now, we see the same media and Deep State actors, trying to make up random stories and create false incidents.

Margot is one of these people, the arguments don't even make sense....

No oil in Syria? Come on, you aren't even trying when you say stuff like this

Ad hom is all you have ?

I don't blame everything with respect to Syrian Proxy war on the US and your beloved El Saud - Other nations such as Turkey, Qatar, Britain, Israel, Jordan other gulf states , and Eastern European Nations contributed to and/or to facilitated the arming of the radical Islamist proxy army.

Tens of Thousands of tons of sophisticated military equipment - logistical support - and supplies. required to sustain a proxy army for roughly 5 years fighting against a nation state. This is no small feat - and Billions upon Billions of dollars... planning, coordination - crossing how many boarders .

You are still in denial that Saudi Arabia was involved at all in arming and supporting the proxy war. This is patently absurd given the reams and reams of information from countless sources - in this case with no disagreement - stating that Saudi Arabia not only was involved - that they were the main player with the US.

This proxy war can in fact be described as a US/Saudi Proxy war.

So far - I have given you the names of 13 Bipartisan in congress that agree with me - (you would likely call these people "America Haters") - and you are welcome to your opinion. I don't share it

I have given you - two other in congress (15 so far) Tulsi Gabbard / Rand Paul- sponsors of the "Stop arming Terrorist Act" - who are very outspoken on the issue .. and Tulsi has been demonized ruthlessly by the media for doing so - calling her a Russian puppet and so on -

Same kind of stuff you are trying to do to me - problem being that you and the left MSM - can't address the facts - so all you have fallacious ad hom attacks.

In addition to the above - you were linked to DIA documents - stating specifics about the arms transfers and Saudi Arabia's support for the war. You tried to demonize the source - even though the webpage was not the source.

here is a video of General Flynn - head of the DIA at the time in question - doing an interview with Al Jezeera - confirming that he had read these documents - and whole bunch of other intelligence - he also states that it was intentional on the part of the US . but I digress from El Saud.
    Transcript: Michael Flynn on ISIL
    https://www.aljazeera.com/programme...transcript-michael-flynn-160104174144334.html

Another to include on Margot's list of "America Haters" - which also includes for - some reason anyone who says bad things about your beloved El Saud.

Then there is the good Senator Richard Black - one of the first - of high political office - to speak the Truth - in no uncertain terms -

Richard went to Syria to see things first hand - so you can't make your nonsensical "you havn't been there what do you know" argument.

Still he will hit the bottom of your "American Hater" bag.

You are fine when discussing other topics - rational, coherent, informed, - but when El Saud is mentioned - all that goes out the window - and numerous posters have told you this.
