And the 440 volt charger is powered by what? Maybe solar or wind someday, but not real soon.

    Make the stupid stop!

    New Dump Trucks don't.
If you asked a hundred years ago if the US could support our current population, the answer would have been no, because we don't have enough land to grow all the hay for all the horses that many people would need for transportation.

We have a nearly 300 year supply of coal.

The US has the largest oil reserves in the world.

And we have a century's worth of natural gas.

And just as the last century proved that we do not have the scarcity that we imagined a hundred years ago, so, we will also find in a hundred years that we have far more reserves than we realized.

You love to call this "dinosaur" fuel, and once we believed that all these fuel sources, all carbon compounds were the result of living organisms, carbon chemistry is still called "organic" chemistry for this reason. But with huge amounts of natural gas found on various planets and moons, who really still believes this? And if crude oil is formed in the earth's crust rather than from the past life of dinosaurs, then oil is as common as dirt, which explains why the more we look the more we find.

Do you have any sense of how much more vast our fuel reserves are now, than they were a hundred years ago?

But, I'll meet you halfway: Water Storage and hydroelectric makes great sense, we need far more dams and water projects. One that makes a lot of sense is bringing the Snake River down out of Idaho, straight down the State of Nevada, turning that state into productive farm land exiting out of Hoover dam, giving both Las Vegas and Southern California a dependable water and electrical supply for a hundred years.

Expanding nuclear energy, but only using types that cannot melt down.

And that's a good start, get that done and we can discuss it further. Too often these discussion are cover for degrowthers, like Leonardo Di Caprio, who cries about everyone else's "carbon footprint" while he flies his hair dresser seventy five hundred miles to tweeze his fkn eyebrows.
They help us, and they help Canada, the Saudi Arabia of fresh water. The day will come when we may want vast water projects from Canada and right now when they need our help getting their oil to market, we should think about the future and help them, especially when helping them is so much help to us. They are fabulous neighbors, we are lucky to have them.

Also, it's great for national security. We enjoy naval supremacy today, and should for the foreseeable future, but should that day pass, say Chinese rocket technology puts our Carriers at risk, wouldn't it be nice to have steady oil supply, overland that cannot ever be blocked by Naval blockade?
All for it, especially with plugin technology, but you have to know that battery technology is currently, environmentally, a very dirty process. We have had some success with harnessing magnetism, a weak fundamental force that is essentially free, imagine how the world will change once we harness the strong nuclear force, something we currently have no understanding how to do?
64,000 days is a hell of a lot of days, twice the normal lifespan. Generally each generation can be expected to come up with solutions that work for fifty years or so, and if each generation continues to do this, everything works out fine, and each solution fits the new context. Imagine if folks a hundred years ago had us locked into the horse based society that they lived in, and we were still locked into their solutions. Stupidity!

    1) How are you going to generate enough electricity to power all those cars?
    2) How much will it cost to upgrade every electrical line on every street in America to be able to handle the capacity for all that extra demand.
    3) Who and How are you going to pay for it all?

Happy that you're off the grid. That means lower gas prices for the rest of us.

Oh sure. The electrical output to charge millions of cars magically appears out of thin air like a Unicorn or Sasquatch.

Yet Clinton had a point, and the conservatives of West Virginia didn't.

    And YOUR point is?

Hillary is unemployed while coal miners are going back to work. Keep dreaming though.

Anyone who aspires to be a coal miner could use a boost in life. Pretty much equiv to a basement dweller.

Not many actually aspire to be a coal minter. It's just one of those very hard and dangerous jobs that men do to put food on the table and pay the bills because that's what men do.

And anybody who would make light of that is....

Probably one hell of a lot more than some fool that thinks pond scum is going to power the country.

Teslas and other pure electric cars are little more than glorified golf carts for the very rich that can afford them.

This is just another real reason electric cars are a joke. They are little more than big expensive golf carts for the rich.
