The Supreme Court will be deciding on the constitutionality of same-sex marriage bans this summer, and you all have the chance to sign your name on an official amicus curiae brief that will be filed by the Human Rights Campaign in support of marriage equality. An amicus brief is a "friend of the court" brief, meaning you are not a party in the case but have a strong interest in the matter and wish to have your voice heard. Your name will be published on the official court filing of the brief and become part of the recorded legal history of the Supreme Court. That is pretty cool if you ask me. And what makes it cooler? Your name will be right under Edie Windsor, whose name will be the first to appear on the brief. That's awesome.

Me too. It would be unfathomable for the court to refuse to grant a stay at this point in the game only to put the bans back into place later. We may even get a 7-2 ruling in favor of marriage equality, something I would not have assumed only weeks ago (I was thinking 5-4, maybe 6-3).

 

The decsion to NOT allow Roy Moore to stop marriages in Alabama...was a clear "hint". It's even panicking the ditto-head Justice Clarence Thomas.

 

I would rather (*)(*)(*)(*) on it, or use it for toilet paper.

I am already disappointed, not expecting much from the SCOTUS. Just hoping enough people start becoming as revolted by this whole preversity of the gay agenda as I am, so we can get back on track and not lose our society completely.

 

I would start making plans to move then. Society as you know it is gone.

 

I expect a panic among the homophobes...worse than for the racists when President Obama won re-election or his election....or for Republican partisans when the Clinton impeachment failed and Clinton's raitings started to rise to Reagan-like numbers.....

they'll KNOW that they lost...and not just a "battle" but the "war". With a big decision 6-3 or worse 7-2 (just Scalia and Thomas representing the Far Right).....there will be no way they can even HOPE that electing Republican Presidents will put "more conservative Justices on the Court and they'll overturn the election."

If they lose not just Kennedy....but Roberts and Alito?....they'll know they couldn't get the decision overturned for 20 years (even in a fantasy)....and by then, most homophobes will have died off of old age.

The homophobes will lose their frickin' minds.

 

I dont think so buddy, just because the tide of support has shifted to the gay agenda does not mean it will continue to do so. Once the grave consequences start popping out, many people will rethink their positions. When the slippery slope starts hitting closer to home, the majority of people will wake up and say enough.
Perverts of the Gay agenda may have won the battle, but the war is far from over.

If you look at HISTORY.....that's proven out. Take gay rights-

2000 years ago, a gay person could have been legally stoned to death.

100 years ago, Oscar Wilde was arrested for being gay.

40 years ago, it was legal for police to shut down gay bars.

30 years ago, the homophobes tried to boycott the TV series "Soap" for having a gay character...it failed.

20 years ago, NO state allowed gay marriage.


Today? There are openly gay Republicans (though not sure why they are Republicans) and the Party doesn't try to kick them out. There are even Republicans who support gay marriage rights.

More than half the country now allows gay marriage.

And Ellen Degeneres is openly gay and is one of the most popular talk show hosts around....even among conservative viewers.

When will this supposed "backlash" begin?
