Which was the plan all along. Everyone knew Obamacare would fail and then Hillary with a Democrat Congress was supposed to implement single payer. The plan fell apart with her second defeat as a presidential candidate.

To dump Obamacare would be to admit it was a failure and Democrats can't do that. It was Obama's single so called success as president.

The bill doesn't make any improvements. In fact, it greatly worsens the situation. Maybe if the GOP actually decided to HELP fix healthcare instead of always taking the low road, something could be done. The ACA was a stop-gap action not an end-all solution. The idea was to tweak it to the constantly changing needs of a population that is both growing in number and growing older in age.

Don't forget the real beauty: You could already be paying for an insurance policy, but if you actually dare get sick, the insurance company could pull it out from under you and/or charge you more.

My view on this is that although McCain's no vote has zero to do with healthcare and 100% about giving Trump a big FU before he dies, in a backhanded way he's doing the GOP a favor. The real villains in this story are the GOP leadership, McConnell and Ryan. They know what a real Obamacare repeal should be because the House came up with one in 2013, the Options Act. It was vetted by conservative think tanks and Tea Party groups. If they really wanted to "repeal and replace," they could have used that as a starting point. Instead, they didn't care about Obamacare repeal at all, they wanted to cut Medicaid to get funds to finance tax cuts without it effecting long term deficit projections. All of the GOP bills were terrible and none of them repealed and replaced Obamacare.

    Improvements? What improvements?

This was slapped together by Graham et all behind a closed door and presented at the last minute. There will be no debate, and no amendments.

What is better about kicking tens of millions of people off health insurance, putting even more at risk by reopening the pre existing conditions door, and cutting funding for subsidies?

McCain has done a great service to the American people ( as he has his entire life) by preventing a disaster and giving cover for Republicans while telling Trump to go f@ck himself. I have always liked him and appreciate his fortitude in the end of life scenario.

Most Americans(myself included) agree that this is crap. This isn't an improvement, it isn't even an attempt at improvement. If Congress cannot improve on what's been done, then they should leave it alone. Regardless of how much Trump cries.

Actually Republicans want to replace Obamacare with Obamacare-lite which is worse because it has higher premiums, tens of millions more uninsured, and all this to pay for tax cuts for the rich. It doesn't do a single thing to actually lower the cost of the care itself. What the democrats want is to patch up Obamacare to fix the problems it has and that makes more sense.

McCain is more mature and sensible than the so-called president and half of Congress.

You partisan nitwits who have no idea what you're even attempting to do here can bugger off.

Clearly they are useless at doing the one job they should be doing, which is legislating. They can bicker and grandstand and talk all sorts of crap, but when the chips are down they can't come up with working legislation to save their careers, the morons.

And ever GOP party line voter helped to put these useless POSes in there! Congress is full of inept con men because those are the kinds of people these party line morons favor, Trump being example numero uno.

Uh....if you actually believe what you just implied, you must seriously dislike Donald Trump. And if you wish to be nasty and derogatory to me I am certainly up for the challenge, I would however recommend you review my history before doing so.

Obamacare was designed to fail and there's no fixing it. Step two was and is single payer which Bernie and crew are actively pushing now

    This all new to you?

I hope you're not giving the Democrats a pass in all this, I mean really, what's the upside of a failed republican version of healthcare, more Obatardcare? The only way that's going to be affordable is to throw trillions at it! the whole nest is full of shltbirds, and either caucus is looking out for the long hall, doesn't matter republican, progressive, democrat or leftist they're all ignoring the reality and we the people are going to be the ones to suffer in the end!

McCain isn't trying to 'save' Obama Care. He knows it needs much improvement. What McCain is trying to do is protect Americans from a medical plan that would be worse for them. People that know what's going on are thankful to McCain. He's one of the few that doesn't kiss trumps ring.

If Republicans had spent half the time on fixing Obamacare that they have wasted on trying to repeal Obamacare - we would probably have a more workable system. Right now all we have is uncertainty.

I say we do away with the individule mandate, add a public option and let the public decide

the public option would be the government provided insurance to congress and all other government employees
