I spent almost a month living in Berlin in 1963 and then the Germans were losing hope to get freedom. Reagan gave them hope and will to drag down that wall. Why not honor him. I have been at the Brandenburg Gate and Tiergarten. A wonderful park and Zoo. I saw Soviet tanks parked by Brandenburg gate so be happy not to have them aiming weapons at Germans today.

I did not realize that the love of the Soviets still was in some Germans.

Sobo, you named some Germans. Believe me friend, that does not mean all Germans come close to those you named. As to Reagan's actor status, some Americans who hate Reagan claim he was B actor but that is not his fault, it is the fault of poorly made movies. Germans had to struggle for freedom when they removed the wall. But we Americans held off of West Germany and Berlin the might of the Soviets. Reagan was an important president for your current freedom. Germans had around 45 years to get rid of the Soviets but until we Americans helped, nothing took place.

To this day since I spent so much time in Berlin, I feel that city in my heart. It is a wonderful city in Germany.

Part of my time I lived here.

Germany is such a worthless place now. They are so ungrateful. This is why NATO is pointless. The NATO mission (literally) ended when the Soviet Union died.

End NATO, pull our resources out of Germany, let those selfish ladies fend for themselves.

There is something you might not realize. In most nations other than the U.S. airports get most of their revenue from foreign travelers. So they invest a lot to make their airports into show pieces.

Most American airports get their revenues from domestic travelers. So the airports are basically subway stations with planes instead of trains.

The NATO decision had nothing to do what people in West Germany were feeling and thinking. West Germany was a junior partner and still official occupied.
The Pershing decision was met with serious resistant by the people in West Germany and was a huge problem for the governments.
I am just trying to give you a more inside view, of how the country felt and what the atmosphere was.
When Reagan decided the deployment, all hell broke loose in West Germany. Huge demonstration, blockades of US installations and so on. It was not just from the Left, the resistant came from every political spectrum.
I think NATO and or the US and or the West German Government were very surprised by the reaction of the people.

It's ironic how Germany was spared the strictures of the Morgenthau Plan but they might have actually been better off if it had been instituted.

there were massive protests everywhere that NATO deployed intermediate range nuclear missiles such as United Kingdom and Belgium. Sicily was the only exception. It was rumored that the mafia there had contracts to build support infrastructure for the missiles so they ordered that there be no protest.

    Yes.
The dictate from NATO lacked complete understanding of what the people wanted or were willing to handle.
    It is still reverberating.

#WINNING: Volkswagen announces groundbreaking date for $800 million expansion to Chattanooga plant.

    The governments were overthrown.
    That’s a military victory.

I've heard that Germans prefer a "hard ride" in their vehicle suspensions because they enjoy the "feel of the road".

    Americans are the complete opposite.

Exactly. Stick transmission here is More expensive than automatic transmission. When you are male and Drive Automatic Here, you pretty much get laughed at. Its cultural thing
