Ah, so bashing the US is fine as long as you are doing it while you are in the US. If you go elsewhere and do it, that's when some kind of magic spell is cast that makes it offensive. Got it.

Trump was laughed at repeatedly at the UN. American reputation around the world has plummeted under Trump. Biden's appraisal is spot on. Instead of taking on the person causing that humiliation you're after Biden for pointing it out.

 

The truly epic ironic thing here is the fact that during HIS vice presidency, his administration was actively "snatching kids from their parents". Out national shame... Joe Biden.... Americans as a whole do not, American progressive/leftist/liberal/Democrats seem do and yes if that continues to grow at least our south western states do face that doom as they merely become extensions of Mexico and Central America.

I'm not following you. People who have legitimate claims for asylum, they fear for their death, can apply in their own countries at our embassies. Or they can present themselves to a legal port of entry and then enter detention until their case can be resolved, at least is used to be that way until the Democrat install "enter and release".

 

I can only deal with what he actually said.

 

What I mean by that is, the genuine refugee is seeking survival for himself/herself and any children. They are not seeking 'better jobs, better education, better housing' etc, as these are features of ECONOMIC MIGRATION. It follows then, that the genuine refugee will be happier remaining in or near their place of origin (familiarity, etc). Therefore we should be taking all aid to them, to avoid inflicting further stress upon them by demanding they move the other side of the world, to a completely alien culture. Not all refugees will be in a position to remain in their country of origin, but almost all will have a near neighbour which is relatively safe (from death .. the only justification for refugee status). We take the aid there.

It goes without saying that any 'refugee' who bypasses multiple neighbours purely to access First World nations, is an economic migrant, and therefore not entitled to resources or special consideration. Economic migrants can enter legally, like everyone else.

 

Well I agree a refugee should start the process in their own country. And let's not forget the international agreements that we are a party too say that once that foot is on American soil they get to claim asylum and are granted entry. Not only do we need to do as Trump has been doing to discourage these caravans of people wanting to do that and stopping those crossing at non-ports entry we need to get out of that part of that agreement and say that only those who enter LEGALLY can make such a claim. And then also change the law to read that that foot has to been within any barriers at that particular point on our border not in the buffer zone between and barrier and the actual border. That will also discourage people from coming.

We already send millions down to help those areas. To change it will require going back to the 60's and 70's and even 80's when we were injecting ourselves into those countries supporting opposition forces to the communist/socialist factions that had taken control. Is American really ready to do that?

And we need to enforce that more because it IS part of the international agreement, a refugee does not get to cross multiple barriers to get where they want to get to claim asylum. If asylum can be granted in the first country to cross over to THAT is where they get it and they can stay.
