Daaaaaaamn! Good job. I honestly thought Trump would do something like this, but I'm glad to see the needle finally move.

How many people are currently in a federal prison for simple possession? They stopped sending people to prisons for long term on federal charges years ago. Not that I oppose him doing so it's a step I guess. Few people where I live go to jail for simple possession and we are not a decriminalized state.

This from 2017 when there were only 220 in prison for FELONY possession.

"Nobody goes to prison for marijuana possession anymore, said Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey. He said the changes in the way Alabama handles marijuana has gone even further. "It's now hard to get someone to prison on a sale," he said."
    https://www.al.com/news/birmingham/2017/03/fewer_in_alabama_serving_time.html

I'll give him an atta boy but I think the states and even federal law are ahead of him of this one.

"No Sue" - should be same as for alcohol. There is no legitimate reason for Gov't to be able to ban pot. and further .. Gov't has no legitimate authority to ban pot .. on account of violation of essential liberty.

It's one of those things where he's pandering, but it's something I agree with and campaigned on(to the extent that I had a wordpress. Getting a real campaign started is a lot harder then it actually looks.). The next step is for Congress to make a federal law legalizing marijuana, in the same breath that prohibition didn't work. The good news is, there's actually pockets of Republican support so as long as it's the right Congress, this can get passed.

Why are you referring to Montgomery COUNTY and the STATE of Alabama when it comes to federal charges?

2017 ? Thats a joke .. The moron's finally figured out that 3 strikes was a bad idea.. throwing pot smokers in jail for ridiculously long periods of time .. Started to subside once they quit that .. and now we have "Only" 220 pot smokers left

And your celebrating ? One person charged for possession of pot should be to many .. for any who has the sightest respect for the founding principle .. never mind someone in jail .. never mind long term.

You should be outraged ... were you properly inclined towards liberty .. not be pooh poohing it .. standing up for the state really .. while grudgingly accepting that past practice was dumb and dumber on steroids.... your beloved war on drugs .. propagated by your beloved Goblins such as Rotten Ronnie .. who also Ruined the Economy .. :) har har ..

I thought Obama, as a member of the "choom gang" would do it. But if it happens, as a libertarian, I see it as a good thing.

This from 2017 when there were only 220 in prison for FELONY possession. Biden's pardon and urging is for SIMPLE possession.

When you can actually read what I post and respond to it let me know.

You are incapable of reading your own links. That's 220 in STTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ****ing prison. And even that was limited to Alabama . . . for 1st degree possession alone.

He has no idea what he's talking about. He doesn't know the difference between state and federal charges, as he's proven.

I think it means 220 left in Federal prisons.

    More importantly:

The president also urged governors to take similar action for state offenses of civil possession of marijuana. In addition, he called on the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Attorney General to “expeditiously” review how marijuana is scheduled under federal law. Currently, marijuana is classified as a Schedule I narcotic, meaning it’s deemed to have no medical use and a high potential for abuse. Heroin and LSD are other Schedule I drugs.

Nope. He's talking about 220 left in Alabama state prison for 1st degree possession. Which proves he doesn't understand the difference between state and federal charges, that he doesn't understand pardons mean more than prison release, and that he doesn't understand there are other charges beyond 1st degree possession. He doesn't have the slightest clue what he's talking about, and that's leaving aside the face that 220 pardons in one go by itself would be significant in the mind of any rational thinker.
