you are claiming that since blacks sold other blacks into slavery , a technologically superior culture should not have engaged in that? again you are imposing current values on societies that existed century ago. Britain was well ahead of African nation states at the time but at the time the slave trade was started, England still had drawing and quartering as a punishment =of course by the time such barbaric punishments were replaced with hanging, african punishments still included anal impalement and other nastiness. But pretending that England and its colonies should have all abandoned a practice that was common throughout out nations-slavery-has almost no value.

And as I said in my first post in this thread the best reparations would be a more equal view of black people as a first response.
It is getting better but it has taken so so long.

Moral values haven't changed in the last 400 years. The only thing that changed was black folk rose up against oppressive government. Why? No one should pay anyone, but decency suggests we should help people in need. Since blacks are more likely to need help because of present and past discrimination, they'll be more likely to get help. I don't think we need to pay LeBron James needs our attention.

When we’re talking about reparations what we’re actually talking about is state sanctioned discrimination. Slavery is merely the starting point of state sanctioned discrimination in the United States. I realize our ignorance of it is willfully strong, but we should have enough awareness to identify and name specific actions we’ve taken to rob a minority from their ability to build wealth.
