LOL, the House dem clown show was the most embarrassing display of partisanship ever seen and now faced with a trial that has no evidence they are desperate for a do-over.

Particularly Mitch. Are we supposed to believe his oath, or the intentions he has presented for the past month?

I think it would be a worse offense if I believed the Biden's were as pure as the driven snow in all this, but I don't. My personal belief is that Biden's son got a high-paying job he was not qualified for through corrupt influence. And by the way, this sh-t goes on all ... the ... time in Washington, and it is despicable.

FreshAir, try to think outside the political box for a second. Just use your non-political, objective mind for a moment. Let's say Trump had been VP, and everything was the same only in reverse. Let's say Barack Obama was running for his second term, and Donald Trump was the leading Republican candidate for the Republican nomination. And let's say Obama did exactly the same thing Trump did, word for word.

My belief is that the Democrats would be insisting that the public deserved to know everything about what Trump did and the corrupt influence he used to get his unqualified son a high-paying cushy job with an overseas energy company. They would say that of course Obama wanted a public announcement so the Ukrainians would be thereby forced to follow through with an investigation. And they would say Obama withheld the foreign aid to be sure it got done ... because the public has a right to know.

And secondly, the Democratic House would not have impeached Obama for this. Do you think they would have? Be honest. I don't think there's a chance in hell that they would have.

This hypothetical is important, and here's why. If they would not have impeached Obama for the exact same thing (and we know they wouldn't), then the impeachment of Donald Trump lacks legitimacy. The impeachment is legal, but it lacks legitimacy.

Someday, if we need to remove a president by impeachment, we'll know it - both R's and D's, regardless of the party the president belongs to. It will look like a duck, walk like a duck, and quack like a duck. But as it is now, not even all House Democrats are on board with this, much less any Republicans.

And let me say one more thing about this. What Trump did was a bit of political shenanigans, and his political enemies zeroed in on it like lasers. Meanwhile, Congress ...

    - has not solved the immigration question
    - has run up huge debt
    - has overseen the destruction of manufacturing in the U.S.
    - has done exactly zero about a virtual holocaust of murder in low-income urban neighborhoods
    - has stood by while American presidents have destroyed countries that are no threat to us, killing and displacing millions of people, creating untold suffering, and costing us in blood and treasure
    - tries to divide and polarize us by race, gender, and income levels
    - evades responsibility for everything

But some political shenanigans is a national emergency. Give me a freakin break!

The whole "issue" if just more spin by the House Democrats. Funny how they are chasitizing the Republicans when 99% of the Democrats have made up their minds. What's going to change anyone's mind. For the Republicans they are not impeachable offenses so they will vote not to remove. For the Democrats, they don't care they just want him gone so they will vote not to remove.

And we are supposed to believe Schumer's and Leahy's oaths? How about the rest of the Democrats?

doesn't mater if the Biden's are pure as snow or not, what Trump did is wrong, if Trump thought they did anything wrong, there are proper ways to handle it

But as Trump's children also profit off daddies name, I doubt Trump has any footing to attack Biden's son over it

I have no issues if they investigate the Biden's as a separate investigation if they have any evidence of wrong doing, but the impeachment is about what Trump did - the Biden's were not there, and have no input on to what Trump did or did not do

I don't compartmentalize it like that. I think what the Bidens did is part and parcel of what Trump did, and I think it's relevant.

sure, Trump broke the law because he thought it would hurt Biden's chance at winning in 2020, if he could announce that Ukraine was announcing an investigation, but the Biden's know nothing about it other than what they have heard in the news like you and I, the real witness to call are his administration and to review the documents Trump is hiding

by your logic we should also call Trump's children to the stand, as well as Biden's, should not Biden be able to defend himself too, that is why you have separate investigations

I think the Bidens know a lot more about how Hunter got that job than they're telling. I suspect it was a corrupt quid pro quo that got him a $50,000/month job that he was completely unqualified for. As I said earlier, corrupt arrangements like this go on all the time in Washington. Washington politicians treat this corruption like a perk of the job. I think the American people deserve to know everything about it if they're going to impeach a president over it.

that has nothing to do with that case against Trump - I think we should call Trump's daughter, find out how she got those patents from China right after she met with China's President on behalf of the USA, makes as much sense as calling Biden's son as a witness

these are separate investigations, I say investigate Trump's children and Biden's... have at it

right now though, this is about what Trump did, not Trump's children or Biden's children

Except that that has nothing to do with the charges against Trump, and the Bidens do have something to do with it.

Again. cops and prosecutors are supposed to be very partisan adocates wanting to put the bad guys away, just as defense counsel are partisan advocates wanting to free an innocent man. we want passionate advocacy in those rolls, not milquetoast. Not the same role in the jury.

nope, this is about abuse of power and obstruction by Trump, nothing else

if we want a separate investigations into Trump's children or Biden's children, that like I said, have at it

Disagree, cops are supposed to follow the evidence, not be partisan - not be petty, not try to escalate a situation for no reason

prosecutors are supposed to seek the truth as well, not just try to win by any means

now I agree this is not always the case, but it should be

and the jury should be very unbiased and not work with the defense at all

Hunter Biden and his $50K salary are just the part that shows. I guarantee that there was a deeper connection to this government through that administration and Obama fronted by Joe Biden. Nobody in Barisma sat up one day and said "We should hire Hunter Biden if he's available." Hunter was a chip in a much larger deal.
