    Fact remains:
The proportion of guns used to commit murder in the US approaches statistical zero.
Thus, the number of guns cannot be shown as a problem.

I see you aren't particularly familiar with firearms or the facts related to mass shootings in the US.
Why do you choose to argue from ignorance?

The fact nothing in Aussie gun laws prevents a mass shooting aside...
This is a post hoc fallacy.

Since you enjoy stats, here's something to think about, if that's possible.

Totally false, to purchase a firearm here requires a FBI background check.

And many of us think anti-gun Australians are childish and very uninformed.

Can you be explicit? Our rights are granted by Parliament.

And they can change their mind and your so called rights at any time, we have a Constitution that is very tough to amend, as such you have rights by a whim, while we have actual rights.

Which means you have no rights, only privileges.
This makes your a subject, not a citizen.

Not much different between our parliament your congress. We have upper and lower
houses - house of Representatives and a Congress. England, Canada, New Zealand
and Australia - we all have similar rights as America.
But what is relevant is that we don't have a constitution fetish. I do admire how Americans
reverence their constitution but other English systems do not. Our constitution changes
often, and few kids could recite one word of it. So a gun clause could be changed more
easily - just means a vote on it.
The one thing most of us fear is that our nation would be ruled over by judges who
"interpret" the constitution. So you get Roe vs Wade where judges "see" abortion in the
    constitution where abortion isn't mentioned.

When was the last time in the united states a constitutional right was actually removed, or otherwise written out of existence, when it was established as existing in the first place?

Not being American I don't know. But right now I can see the erosion of people's
right to free speech through progressive and woke culture.

Oh yes much better to live where your life can be run by the whims of politicians versus having a Constitution that limits what politicians can do to the people.

Are you serious, you have no rights, tomorrow you could be enslaved and there is nothing you could do about it.

Tell you what, as I stated before why don't you worry that s-hole of a country you live in and bugger off when it comes to the US and our rights, your lack of understanding the subject and your posts many of which are based on lies or nonsense are getting repetitive and boring.

My family come from America - we went there from England in 1640.
One of my ancestors, a Geist, was a general with Washington.
I am related to the famous Indian kidnapping Sarah Parker.
I am related to the Middlestons CA, where the war between cattlemen and shepherd started.
One of my relatives was shot by Apache Kid.
Another had a lock of hair shot off during the Geronimo uprising - her husband took the bullet.
    etc..
But Australia has a good standard of living. Comparable to USA. With the exception of a single
state we have vanquished Covid. We love America, particularly my family.

US Supreme Court "interprets" constitution stuff in light of public opinion (Roe vs Wade example)
and that's the same with Australian parliament. And we are losing our freedom of speech just like
America - indeed, slavishly copying America. Sigh...

Once again you are displaying your ignorance, the USSC has handed down a few rulings very supportive of the Second, so much for your theory of it being run by public opinion.

572,000 lives lost to guns in USA in 1999-2016.

    How can anyone not care?

Because the issue of guns are finely balanced. Lots of pro and anti gun people.
But should sentiment shift to anti-gun then you can expect Supreme Court judges
will shift too. They will "re-interpret the Constitution" and it will be based upon
    liberal versus conservative judges.
Just like liberal versus conservative parliamentarians.
Or liberal versus conservative monarchs etc..

Over the lifetime of a child born today in America there will be 8,000,000
people shot. One third of which will die. That's if the current figures continue.
    It's a war.

This from Wikipedia. It suggests arms are to defend against the state.
But logically, to the state's military, your weapons are known as "light arms"
Shouldn't a tax-paying citizen demand access to F18's and F35 Joint Strike Fighters?
Else, how can you "defend" against the state?

SECOND AMENDMENT. A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security
of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.
The Second Amendment is the most important right, because the Second
Amendment keeps the government from being able to impose tyranny.

Anyone who understands reality, remove gang bangers and suicide related deaths and self defense deaths and that number drops by 95%, maybe you should use a little common sense and try to solve the problem, not the symptom.

Also during that time period law abiding gun owners used their guns to protect themselves from criminal attacks 34, 000,000 times.

I'll take lives saved over shedding tears about gang bangers and idiots killing themselves.

It's time to move on and cease your worn out anti-gun game, it's getting boring and literally means nothing in the larger picture.

    So what?

If we use a 75 year lifespan 150 million people will have saved themselves from a criminal attack using a gun, and as I already pointed out remove gang bangers, suicides and lawful killings and you number drops by 95%.

Or is it you are more concerned about gang bangers and suicides versus the law abiding?
