Well it's being reported by multiple outlets, including NYT and NBC. So it's probably pretty accurate.

 

you know what they says "hope for the best ,but prepare for the worst" right now we can't even get N95 mask, cause its mostly import from china and they have shortage in their own country, so no more import for those mask. and most are already sold out in US.

 

I agree Italy will be a much better indicator than China. The 3% death rate is rather low considering the circumstances IMO. The media is running with a story they know will get views and clicks.

Sounds like you and Trump have something in common: germophobia. He was furious that the State Department Health and Human Services decided to bring 14 cruise ship passengers back to the U.S. without briefing him. All those people were quarantined on arrival as is the standard process.

This is not a crisis.

It is a good idea, in general, to have a couple weeks of food and drinking water on hand just in case of some unknown "something". But this is not the time to panic over COVID-19.

Anyway you got to rely on yourself to get through a crisis or emergency. We began preparing the first time we saw a patient in isolation plastic. Some of the things we have four months worth of are now unavailable and people are going to have to improvise.

We are prepared for the worst hoping for the best. Hurricane season is coming and we need not do a thing for that. Survival assets are survival assets.

What on earth does the Coronavirus have to do with the importance of borders and tight border control? There's absolutely no pertinence of your comment because it's nonsensical. Guess what? There were 195 Americans quarantined because of Coronavirus. How would "tight border control" have affected that in any way?

If you don't have symptoms are you going to the doctor's office and catch something else? Like antibiotic resistant strep or staph? Nope. You're going to stay an unreported carrier.

If your town had a outbreak of this or any other virus you would not want to control who came into your house, via the "border" of your front door?

The CDC is reporting that you're most likely to catch it from someone who is showing symptoms....sneezing or coughing too close to you.

I'll infer then, that people who catch it but are completely asymptomatic are least likely to be "spreaders"....except for close relationships. The two people who have caught it here were married to carriers who came back from China.

Early on, I read that the largest concern would be that the virus mutates before it burns itself out.

 

The CDC is very good at warning people about coming pandemics. Doing anything about the coming pandemics they're not so good at. What a shame.

 

We thought we had measles wiped out here with herd immunity. Central America did not have vaccines and still suffered measles outbreaks. Now we have new measles cases in the U.S. People coming here legally get health-screened and vaccinated. Illegal entrants do not.

 

Hard to believe anybody can not see the relation between border control and the spread of viruses.

 

Yeah. It's pretty difficult to develop a vaccine for an unknown virus which is "novel".
