Why should other people pay for your mostly worthless gender studies, philosophy or art history degree? You are free to major in whatever you want as long as YOU are on the hook. Look at all the people who drop out of college now or can’t hack it. Look at how many flunk out of H.S? Now imagine there are ZERO repercussions for failing besides wasting everyone’s time? You think all the people flunking out now will suddenly take it MORE serious when it’s all free? It won’t change anything except cost us a fortune.

People who excel will still excel and those that suck will still suck. Sure, there will be some that might do well. But then again if they were amazing HS students they would get scholarships. But If they don’t have the means to even get the scholarships, than they certainly don’t have the means to go to college.

We’ll be spending X billions for essentially nothing. It won’t really change anything besides make a college degree even less
valuable. That’s why many online degrees are already a joke.

I see a lot of college grads making $40K per year long after they left school. I also see many people working a trade making $100K+, and they’ve never set foot in a college class.

The idea that we have to force everyone into college and pay for it is insane.
