    That's why all those without permits were made to disperse. They shouldn't have been there and weren't legally.

    So did mine. CPT Hall in the 2nd Maine Light Artillery Battery. Probably others as well, but I know him for sure.

    A huge segment of the white population had ancestors in the confederacy.

    For the same reason it is important to memorialize winners. Learn from their mistakes, learn from their victories, honor the sacrifices they made, remember the atrocities they committed, remember the heroic acts they performed.

    Really? I have relatives who were in Maine Artillery units. One died about a week after Gettysburg in a hospital near there, but it doesn't say if he was at Gettysburg.

    They were packing, so they wanted more than talk. They came looking for trouble, wanting trouble, or they would have left their weapons in the woods. I agree that historic monuments should be left alone.
