It's very interesting to see right wingers who are all terrified of jack booted government types coming in the night supporting jack booted thugs coming in the night.

Are you talking about LEGAL gun owners worried about the govt rewriting the constitution first? The difference here. Owning a gun is LEGAL!!!! Living in the US illegally is....well.....illegal. There is nothing inherently wrong with ICE breaking into a home harboring illegals. If you don't want anyone to remove you from a home, don't sneak into a country and break the law. Quite simple really.

    Who are you to complain?

It could be with respect to immigrant labor, if we wanted that.
The Wetback program was dismantled by the left because Ceasar Chavez and his union didn't want to compete against cheap Mexican labor, ironically.

But at least with Big Agriculture, that yearns the cheap labor that harvests their products, there is no rational reason not to import seasonal workers
and pay them what's due when they return to Mexico until the next harvest season.

I fail to see why it wouldn't work.

Let them, they are doing the nation a great service.

First, what they are implementing is called "nullification" - the ability of a state to ignore federal laws and rules the state feels are unconstitutional. Just wait until all the red states decide to nullify DC.

Second, cut off their funds. If they want to go it alone, fine. The more states and cities that cut the govt cord, the better. Once people see the govt is not required and they do better without the feds, its another win for conservatives.

That's right I almost forgot the mayors of San ctuary cities are hiding and coddling the criminals. I'm sure when the Federal funds cease to be sent, the mayors will change their minds and give up the MS-13 criminals and the other criminals they are hiding.

I'm on your side with this one, the 2nd A is a constitutional thing... If the laws change regarding the 2nd, i'll have to make my own decision on whether or not I want to break it or turn in whatever became illegal (20 rd mags for example)

With immigration, I personally don't find any difference between this law and any other's out there, if I break one I expect to be punished when caught, I don't care if its speeding (I do that all the time, the punishment is minimal) or dealing Heroin (hell's no), there are punishments for crimes written very clearly.

I know that there are those that have been breaking the law for a long long time and the left wants me to have sympathy for them but as stated above, just because I speed all the time doesn't mean that I should be able to use that as a defense the next time I get caught, and If I've been dealing heroin for years its not a logical defense either.

I doubt we're going to be rounding up people in nighttime raids, but we shall see. Start with the criminals, verify their status and if they fail the test, send them home. Sorry, i'm a cold fish.

If Chicago/San Fran/other cities decide they want to take a stand, have fun with that. The Fed's have the bigger checkbook, they will win out in the end so i'm not sure why putting up a fight that can't be won is a smart idea.

I watched a video interview with one of Trumps team, can't remember which one, but he showed his hand a little.
He didn't dwell on the withholding of Federal funds but instead said "Things will be different when the jobs and welfare stop"
So reading between the lines all that Trump has to do is enforce the E-Verify program, even asking that all employers confirm that all their employees have been through the program, which has serious financial penalties for non compliance. He can then stop ALL funds now going to illegals as welfare benefits because they are Federal programs.

The New Orleans police department now gets in on things and says they will continue to block federal immigration law and shield illegal immigrants.
Emanuel, New Orleans, L.A, San Francisco (undoubtedly), etc. just don't get it.

    They will, pretty soon.

Off topic, I Like your avatar, Michael Kitchens, I believe that photo is from Foyle's War. Great series. I am a big fan of UK TV, unlike US/Hollyweird they still have original thoughts and scripts. Big fan of UK comedy. Still Game and Rab Nessbitt are hilarious.

    Passed in 1996

    https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1324

    (iii) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation;

Pretty much sums up a sanctuary city.
Carries a 5 year jail sentence for EVERY illegal that a sanctuary city has shielded.
And if the local police help in hiding the illegals the law also covers that as well:

    (I) engages in any conspiracy to commit any of the preceding acts, or
(II) aids or abets the commission of any of the preceding acts,

Clearly, you missed the irony of the right wing fear of government being used against the population.

10 min. after Pres. Trump is inaugurated the new AG should have federal bench warrants issued for all mayors and police chiefs who pull this s#!t for obstruction of justice. First up should be Rahm "moron" Emanuel and perp walk him in front of all the cameras.

Lot's of federal funding to be cut, everything from block grants for law enforcement to education to health and human services, to transportation projects.

He can do something about it and hold people accountable through the law of principals:

    18 U.S. Code § 2 - Principals

    (a) Whoever commits an offense against the United States or aids, abets, counsels, commands, induces or procures its commission, is punishable as a principal.

    (b) Whoever willfully causes an act to be done which if directly performed by him or another would be an offense against the United States, is punishable as a principal.

    (June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 684; Oct. 31, 1951, ch. 655, § 17b, 65 Stat. 717.

It's simply a matter of getting federal prosecutor to act.
