Firstly, Chris Matthews no more speaks for all Caucasians than Al Sharpton no more speaks for all Africans. The reality is this, Chris Matthews must feel like he needs to apologize for something, as he must've done something, that made him invoke apologizing for whatever action he took. I've done nothing to warrant such an apology, as I don't go down those same paths as maybe some other people.

Racism has been going on in this country for many years, not even in the past 50 years. This type of thing goes on in generations upon generations of folks being told to believe one thing over the other. Whether folks want to label it under the educational system or their parents, whatever, you're just further proving my point.

To be honest, I have no idea how to cure this mess. I'd be the first person to tell you that I'd love to see racism gone from this world, if not at least this country. I tire of it myself. The only logical thing I can think of is starting locally. Let an entire community have a meeting/discussion, with everyone in that community, and say that they won't tolerate racism in their community. If anyone is found to be leaning towards that issue, they will be uprooted from the community and no longer welcome there. As this type of thing happens and proves it works, either folks will change their ways or they will have to move to a place where that entire community is racist. In which case, at least the disease is contained.

However, I'm not sure how I feel about that solution, but it's the only thing that truly comes to mind to fix this issue. This country won't be able to fix this issue through legislative measures. You can't fix a social issue with a policy, it's just not going to work. If you think you can, you'll just become apart of the problem, not the solution.

None of these comments matter as to the outcome of the trial and the juries final verdict. What we should be talking about is the stand your ground laws and "castle laws" which a majority of both red and blue States have enacted.

IMO castle laws make more sense as they allow you to protect your home and "personal property". I am against a law that allows you to confront individuals who are not on your property or entering your home or attempting to do so.
I am against Stand your Ground laws that allow you to engage, confront others not on your personal property or threatening your person with a weapon and where you were unable to avoid the confrontation. So I guess if Florida law only allowed you to protect your property or person where you were not the aggressor and had ample time to retreat and avoid confrontation or where the aggressor had no apparent weapon; George Zimmerman would have been found guilty.

There was a case in recent years, in Texas, where a neighbor used deadly force against individuals breaking in to a neighbors home. I read the case and believe the Grand Jury should have indicted the man, IMO what he did was beyond what is allowed by Texas Castle Law.

I am sick of criminal laws that are not specific and require costly appeals to appeals courts, State Supreme Courts and Federal Supreme Court. And even then it seems these courts have varying opinions. The Castle laws basically allow property owners to shoot anyone illegally entering their property, even if they are peacefully fishing or just walking through their yards to take a short cut. Many youths have been shot or arrested for doing such. What a joke.
Stand your ground when you confront someone not on your property or who confronted you first; is simply an unjust law IMO.

...The British had no use for the native peoples. They saw them as devil worshippers, savages who were beyond salvation by the church, and exterminating them increasingly became accepted policy. Our history is part of your history. You can deny it. But the US evolved from Great Britain.
