You're already wrong for thinking that abortion was not part of his body of teaching when his disciples wrote about it afterward. Where do you think they got it from? And what would make Christians any different from pagans if they practiced abortion and infanticide? One of the reasons for the Jewish dietary laws and such was to set the Hebrews apart from the cultures around them.

There are a lot of things Jesus was never reported as saying. That's all it means, it wasn't reported. It doesn't mean he never said t.

Yes, abortion goes very well with the rest of Jesus' teachings....

That's right. I know for a fact that Jesus invented dynamite, the aeroplane, shoe trees, paisley-painted teacups, and the American Constitution. The fact that it wasn't reported does not prove it isn't all true.

By the way, my personal take on that "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" is that the aphorism is misstated.
Do you ever say anything reasonable or helpful?

But Jesus never said a word about abortion.

And that is what we are discussing at the moment.

What's the ultimate opposite of love?

    To kill

It would seem the search for more scrolls and Bible scholarship can now be stopped and considered irrelevant as we have the living Prophet to tell us the REAL word of God....you should step into the light and save the world now.

    Come on...we are awaiting salvation.

I said it was not recorded that he said it.

There are lots of records of things he supposedly said (not that those things mean very much to modern followers of his teachings)...but none that speak of his having said anything about abortion.

I say again: There are no records which report Jesus saying ANYTHING about abortion.

I notice nobody is quoting anything Jesus said about ABORTION...just diverting.

    Often.

    Have you ever tried it?

Perhaps you did it while converting those Mormons you claim to have converted.

    Diversion.

And I think the opposite of love...is fear. Not "to kill."

    What diversion?

The extreme opposite of to love someone would to be to kill someone

Matthew 22:36-40 King James Version (KJV)
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Then there is no need whatever for any church, preacher, deacon or tithe -- nothing should stand betwixt at all. Get your Gideon Bible at the motel, read it, and go direct, rejecting all organized Christianity.

If you want to think that the opposite of love it to kill...go ahead. I enjoy a good laugh no matter who provides it.

I think it's generally agreed that the opposite of love is indifference, but what do they know?

Absolutely correct! Jesus was the first rocket scientist as well. The fact that it was not reported does not mean it isn't true.

Everything I have told you is true. Why is that a problem for you? Is it because your ego won't allow you to entertain an idea that didn't come from your own head? I posted a link to the Didache, look it up.

Oh, I know...some of these things don't agree with your fundamentalist understanding.

I guess it depends on your definition of need. Not many people can live the Christian life successfully alone.
In fact there might not be any.

Jesus did establish a church, it is based on the confession that Peter made. That Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.

    And as Paul stated.

    1. Do not forsake the meeting of yourselves together.

    2. Those who spend their lives preaching the gospel, should make their living from it.

The Didache held sway in early Christianity before there was a NT.

In almost every dictionary...the antonym for love is hate (or loathing).

To say that it is generally agreed that the opposite of love is indifference makes no sense.

Well, I know it was a pretty early work. It's always been amazing to me how fast these things spread.
