Chuck Yeager was a big hero of mine long before the movie that made him a household name over thirty years after he first broke the sound barrier. Same goes for all of our astronauts from the Mercury Seven through the Apollo missions. Although his response to the question about Hollywood refusing to show the iconic planting of the American flag on the Moon is succinct and mature, it definitely speaks volumes.

Although I was looking forward to seeing the Neil Armstrong movie "First Man", after reading this article (first alerted to me by @Zorro 's steely eyed observations!) I'm now only waiting for it to show up on Netflix or Prime streaming:

@GenChuckYeager Ryan Gosling is coming out with the movie First Man where it portrays Neil Armstrong as a liberal progressive anti Trump (in spirit) non-flag waiver. Probably agree with the National Anthem kneelers, too; at least in Hollywood's liberal imagination. For your Info.

That's not the Neil Armstrong I knew

BTW, General Yeager posts several requests for good charitable projects on his Twitter feed, so if anyone is looking for a good place to donate a few bucks, I'd suggest looking there.

Making a film about Apollo 11 and not showing the American flag planted on the Moon is like doing a film on Iwo Jima and not showing the American flag planted on Mount Suribachi.

    Brain dead leftists.

....which would probably be next on the agenda if Clint Eastwood hadn't done such a good job just a few years ago.

Sounds like the movie is about a guy named Kneel Armstrong.

I have nightmares about Colin Kaepernick being sent on that moon mission instead of Armstrong.....

I'm sure they like Americans, but only those that toe the socialist line and do as they're told. Anyone else is disliked.

Seems so, but that's pretty common for political extremists regardless of flavor.

Some speculation is that the studio had to do this to not get the CHINESE censors involved. Getting a US movie approved in China can be quite hard, so a movie showing American Exceptionalism (of possibleythe greatest feat in world history) would not go over too well with the insecure commie government. A market of 1.3 BILLION people is not something to ignore, unfortunately.

Communists monkeying things up yet again.

In unrelated news, Gosling has just been selected to play the lead in the "Colin Kaepernick Story".

In Hollywood, Superman USED to say "Truth, Justice, and the American Way"......but now it's "Truth, Justice, all that stuff". Hollywood is re-writing everything, unfortunately.

If CUBA had got to the moon first I guarantee you'd those Hollywood leftists would have made dang sure that the Cuban flag got it's due in the film!
But with the dreaded DONALD TRUMP fighting hard for our flag (NFL, etc.), they had to leave said flag out.

I bet Gosling is, say, a Canadian, or something. And the director is, like, say, a French guy, or something. That would sure explain a lot.

The planting of that flag was, effectively, the "money shot" of the greatest achievement in human history. Gosh, too bad it wasn't the **UN** flag or it would certainly have made it into the movie!

Man, you really opened a can of red meat, dincha??

Sounds like a stupid idea to leave out a flag scene to me... I'm sure Armstrong would have agreed.

I'm on the fence about this movie after seeing preview at Mission Impossible 6 last month..

Liked La la land and LOVED Whiplash from same director, but HATE the movie title... I would have gone with 'One Small Step'.. Never saw that as an option...

Doubt I will go see it... mostly because Apollo 13 is in my top 3 movies of all time, and it doesn't get better than that for space movies..

    Cheers Max..

You know how they got them to float? They built a mock up of the Apollo spacecraft inside of a KC-135 and did climbs and dives. Just like the real astronauts. So when you see them floating, that is a real zero gravity environment
