Congratulations Republicans. You put Putin's stooge in the White House.

Secret CIA assessment: Russia was attempting to assist Trump

A secret CIA assessment has concluded that Russia intervened in the U.S. presidential election in an effort to help Donald Trump win the presidency, according to a report by The Washington Post.

“It is the assessment of the intelligence community that Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected,” a senior U.S. official briefed on an intelligence presentation made to U.S. senators told the Post. “That’s the consensus view.”

The CIA shared their findings with several senators in a closed-door briefing session last week, and told the lawmakers that it was "quite clear" that electing Trump was Moscow's key objective, the officials told the publication.

However, there were also some disagreements about the CIA findings, particularly relating to the extent of Kremlin's involvement in the operation. According to the report, the intelligence officials said that the Russian actors who passed the hacked information to WikiLeaks were "one step" removed from Moscow.

Trump has previously denied the possibility of a Russian interference in the 2016 election, stating that he does not trust premature conclusions of various intelligence sources.

President Obama on Friday also ordered a full review of the alleged Russian involvement in the election, stating that he wants it to be complete by the end of his term.

Is this one of those silly "has all the earmarks of a possible Russian government hack" without any proof?

Don's eased off on the idea of prosecuting Hillary over the email scandal, but I daresay if Obama or any other Dems hassle him about anything he might change his mind and go after Hill bigtime.
As Al Capone once said- "If somebody messes wid me, I'm a-gonna mess wid him"..;)

These claims without verifiable proof do nothing but damage relations even further. Our entire intelligence community is acting immaturely. But then, ever since the WMD scandal, the community has been in shatters and has failed to even remotely try to improve themselves.

Since Hilary Clinton repeatedly promised to have the US military attack the Russian military, including Russian civilian and military aircraft where Russian aircraft were legally flying and USA aircraft were not - the only presidential candidate to ever campaign on going to direct military war against Russia - there should be no surprise if the Russian government would be deeply interested in the USA election.

If a candidate was running for president of Russia promising to militarily go to war against the USA I'm confident our intelligence community would do all it could to prevent that candidate winning. Anyone in the USA intelligence community who wouldn't do so should be fired, banned from any access, and if possessing any secrets that would aid war against the USA locked up in solitary confinement per terms of the Patriot Act.

While it would be reasonable for the government to take further measures to prevent hacking by anyone, it is absurdly naive to believe countries do not spy on, try to hack and try to influence the selection of government officials. Remember, Wikileaks exposed that the USA spies on and hacks other governments - including our allies - for which not one person was prosecuted or fired.

Regardless of who the hacker(s) are, we should be glad the TRUTH came out. TRUTH has it's own merit and justification. The fury over voters learning the truth about the DNC, Clinton, the Clinton foundation and Clinton operatives is, candidly, bizarre no different than a criminal defendant in court raging that he wouldn't be on trial but for the people who snitched on him - demanding the court and jury find him not guilty because his secret criminal activities were exposed without his consent.

It also is nuts for Democrats to continually remind people of the emails given how damning they are.

This also is still another "unnamed source" - which has always been the basis of the claim. Since such as the Washington Post have admitted they were tricked into publishing unvetted stories by "unnamed source" that proved later to be false, for which surprising the WaPo apologized, until there is some NAME to this claim I consider it as fully worthless.

Yes, she did. She repeatedly vowed to establish a no-fly zone over Syria. Russia has permission to fly over Syria by the Syrian government - and the USA does not. A no-fly zone means shooting down aircraft of other countries. Russia flies civilian and military aircraft over, in and out of Syria. Shooting down Russian aircraft over Syria is vowing to militarily attack the Russian military (and civilians), which by definition are acts of war - no different if Russian declared a no-fly zone over Germany by American aircraft.

Other motivations for Russia includes the overall warmongering nature of Clinton and her effectively vowing to renew the Cold War against Russia.

Russia has a pretty valid interest in a Trump presidency, and that is they want improved relations with the US. While most of the world wanted Hillary Clinton to win the election, people in Russia wanted Trump to win because they want relations with the US to improve. It should also be noted that hackers being from Russia doesn't nessisarily mean there was involvement from the Russian government

That's the important distinction to make here, and I think it's a distinction that the US Government is either purposefully NOT making, or ineptitude of an untold level exists in that part of the pentagon. If they connected it to a Russian source, that's just the FIRST step. They have to find out names. The way they can do that, is to go before the U.N. Press Russia on the issue, for some kind of response.

But they have not generally done that. Despite what a gross violation it is, their official response has been "Look, the Russians did this! It's super bad." Well, do something about it. Complaining about it now, does nothing.

Sometimes I wonder if the US government has kids wearing grown up disguises.

They call it a secret assessment yet it is openly published.

Sounds like BS smells like it looks like it.

This is all about Russian expansionism and energy. Putin wants to restore the old Soviet and he wants the resources in the Baltic States. Hillary has toed the line in her opposition to Russian aggression. That's why Putin hates her.

Trump on the other hand, probably has some vested interest in Putin's energy plans.

Yet you have Trumpers who call liberals and progressives, communists or socialists!

Okay, exactly what do you propose we do to prevent the Great Bear of the north from taking his stuff back? Given that almost all of those former S.S.R, thanks to Stalin, living among them. have quite large populations of Russian ex-pats.

In some cases large enough that the only thing required would be a plebescite.

CIA says Russia intervened to help Trump win White House: Washington Post
December 9, 2016 WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The CIA has concluded that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help President-elect Donald Trump win the White House, and not just to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system, the Washington Post reported on Friday.

Sanctions, international pressure... the only tools we have less military options. But letting him know that he can't expect to sweep across the continent like Hitler tried to do, isn't some progressive agenda.

If we have given up on opposing the Russian threat to Eastern Europe and unavoidably. Western Europe, fine, but don't act like its some big liberal agenda. This has been the US policy for over 60 years. What is changing is Trump wants is to resign as the leader of the free world and become isolationists. Okay, that's an option but call it what it is. This has nothing to do with liberalism. In fact, what Trump is doing is highly liberal by definition. He is reversing long-held US policy. He is sleeping with the enemy.

Part of Reagan's legacy was the collapse of the Soviet Union. That was hailed as one of his greatest achievements.

If it takes a foreign government to expose a corrupt presidential candidate then what does that tell you about the CIA?

If they did not know about it they are incompetent...if they did and said nothing about it then they are as corrupt as she is.

    So which is it?
