That was the whole point, to draw attention because sometimes you need to pay attention. You can enjoy the game and be politically wary at the same time.

People got pissed off because they jumped to the conclusion that he was demeaning the nation and the anthem when that wasn't the case at all, but making others aware of the injustices that happened but naturally others just took that as "I hate America, it sucks" and ran with it. Then got on their own personal pedestals and screamed that he should give away some of his money if he hates it so much, not even bothering to research that he did indeed donate millions from his salary immediately following the preseason and well after the regular season.

And honestly if someone is that easily distracted by a 3-minute protest during the anthem that they completely forget about the other 3+ hours of gametime there is before and after, then that's not good on their part.

He plays a sport in a country that doesn't share his ideals. His job is to entertain the fan base, unfortunately for him that means winning isn't everything in this case.

No one "needs to pay attention." to a self-absorbed clown. Other people have rights, too. And maybe they want nothing to do with Colon. That is THEIR right.

He is an EMPLOYEE. He had NO right to take ANY attention away from the point of the day: the game.

And if people don't care about his issues, he should not be allowed to force himself on them. Imo, he's a prima donna and a pita. He's where he deserves to be: unemployed. And, I hope he stays that way.

He had EVERY right to make a point, as did all the other players who followed suit. Yes, everyone else has rights such as the right to pretend he's not there and just get on with the game, as many people did.

Again, people have the right to ignore him and several did. If people don't care about the issue, that's fine, just don't sit on a high horse and scream that he's some uber bad guy because he did something that you didn't like.

Kaepernick could have gotten away with dissing the anthem and Trump, but he also called Hillary Clinton "evil" - that was a death penalty offense for the PC Police.

I highly doubt he'd get away from dissing Trump then, given the number of people who seemed to like him at the time.

I agree that he has the right to make a point or demonstrate, etc. But NOT in the way he did it (or where he did it).

Again, he is an employee. He's supposed to be a professional player, not a whiner. If he wants to make a "point" he should do it on his own time and not in someone else's statium. The team owners owe Colon NOTHING. Especially not a forum for his stupid stunts. He's an AH and they did what they should do: they fired his dumb ass.

Just because people have an issue thay think is important does NOT give them the "right" to interfere with other people, or to FORCE anyone else to pay attention to them.

People have the right to "peaceful assembly." But when they interfere with others, cause ANY problems, block store entries, loot, commit arson, they should be trown in jail. Why? Because other people have rights, too. The world does NOT revolve around Colon or his "issues."

Good for him. Maybe they are hiring in Brazil, he can sit through the anthem . Lefties love anti American support.

Kaepernick invoking his black privilege? Say it ain't so. Ask yourself why Tim Tebow was panned by every team in the league. Tebow had a raw talent that didn't go unnoticed, and a versatility I've never seen in another player. Tebow didn't protest anything, or use the NFL spotlight to promote anything. Tim just took a second to thank the man upstairs for his God given talent every time he got in the end-zone. Simple solution, keep Tim out of the end-zone ... play defense! But by all means, tell me all about poor Collin.

And what exactly is the "right" way to protest, may I ask? It seems lots of people like to take it upon themselves to give a lecture on the appropriate or acceptable way for Kaep to hold a peaceful protest. Please, I'd love to hear this.

Umm....have you watched a single pro-football game with Tebow as the quarterback? Ever?

Yes. I've also watched him play 5 different positions in a single game. I've seen him throw a T.D. and rush for a T.D. in a game. I have the SI mag naming him athlete of the year. I watched him take the Broncos to the playoffs as a rookie starter.

Not to mention the TV ratings were off the charts during the last part of that Broncos season due to 'Tebow Time'.........it was fun to watch even if you weren't a Broncos fan. How often does that happen❓

You know, I was like that with Elway too. I loved to hate that guy. Ironically, you could, at least I could, see that Elway hated Tebows rookie success. I swear Elway celebrated Tebows playoff fiasco. Traded him post haste. I guess because it took Elway 14 yrs. he wasn't about to be upstaged by Tebow. You get that feeling?

I didn't waste my time reading this whole thread so I will just go ahead and end it here.

    1. Kaepernic is unemployed because he's asking for far more money than he will get as someone that's trying out for a #2 QB.

    2. Kaep had every right to protest in the way he did. He wasn't really offending anyone. Those of you 'patriots' whining about it fail to understand the reason for those rights.

    3. Kaep will have a job at some point this preseason, as soon as a QB goes down.

Yeah, but....he really wasn't that good at being a QB for most of these games.

Each NFL team has a brand an image to maintain with its fans which aren't SWJ liberals they don't buy tickets. it is the hard working American loving blue collar worker that are the ticket buyers
And with Kaepernick he created his image of being anti police and anti military with the disrespect he showed for the flag and police that doesn't set well with most NFL ticket buyers
Not saying he doesn't have talent but his talent doesn't outweigh the negative image he would bring to any NFL team. he isn't worth it

remember with free speech comes consequences and depends on the speech those consequences can be negative Kaepernick should have thought of that before he decided to disrespect the flag and the police

his talent doesn't outweigh the negative image he would bring to any team remember a team has to keep its fans happy as much as thy need to win games

Check his stats, and QB rating. He was an awsome rookie not plagued by injury. He could have been a TE if wanted. Collins getting the liberal victim sympathy coverage, and Tebow being a white Christian only got the shaft. The same libs crying over Collin, got Tebow blacklisted.

If enough QBs get injured, somebody will have no choice but to sign him.
