I don't know how the Rebels' defensive line forgot to show up to the game on Saturday! ;)

OSU pounded UM in historic fashion.

OSU might get into the CFP.

Yeaaaa. I hope not though. There are more deserving teams that have less of a chance to get in. If GA loses to Bama in the SEC and Ohio state manages to get in with 1 loss, I'd call BS.

PLEASE GOD (whichever one) Just have an 8 team CFB playloff. Power 5 conf and 3 wild cards. Obama said it in 2009 and I've never agreed with him more.

    Yup.

I would go with 8 teams.

Apparently, assuming Bama beats GA, the 4th team is gonna come down to Oklahoma or Ohio St. (Assuming they both win their final game).

Of course the major debate will come if GA beats Bama (and Bama gets in anyway).

In that scenario, I would favor BOTH SEC teams getting in.

An 8 team playoff makes the most sense. Teams like UCF that have proven to be good even though some of their competition isn't, need a chance to fight for wildcard spots.

If Bama beats GA, and it's close (within a touchdown), I still easily would pick GA over Ohio State. However, I would make a better case for Oklahoma so that would be tough.

I think OK has a better case if they win.

Their only loss was to Texas 48-45 (on a neutral field) in a game that they trailed 45-24 in the 4th and tied it. Only to lose on a field goal with 9 seconds left.

Since that loss, they are 6-0 (averaging over 50 pts/gm).

Saturday they play Texas (9-3), with a chance to avenge the earlier loss.

Ohio St. (through no fault of their own) plays a relatively mediocre NW (8-4) team in the Big 10.

Yea I would have to agree.

Ohio State lost to Purdue, I believe. They almost lost to Maryland last week and barely pulled out a win (BARELY).

    Yup.

Ohio State's loss was HORRIBLE. (To a team that ended 6-6).

OK's loss was a last second loss to a very good team.

I know I sound like I hate Ohio State, but I don't. I just am against the hype they are getting. If you watched the Ohio State/Maryland game, it was clear they aren't fit for the final 4 teams. 8 team playoff? Sure. But not top 4. After Purdue and Maryland games...I am just not convinced they have earned a spot in our current system.

Have to say, it's been a wild, wacky bowl season. Can the Texas win be considered one of the greatest upsets of the modern era yet? How about FL taking Michigan to the woodshed? TX A & M taking it to NC State.. Kentucky beating up on Penn State? (to the obvious distress of the commentators from ESPN) (I know, right? and who let's Herbstreit comment on Ohio State and call that fair??)

But I digress. Turns out that Notre Dame was hugely overrated, hence the beat down from Clemson. We should have known something was up when Vanderbilt... yes, the not so SEC football team... almost beat them earlier in the year. Get Kelly to admit to that...

and now we're at the end of the season, and it's Clemson and Alabama. Again.

I really hope both teams show up this time. It would be a shame to end on a whimper..

And the results are in, and...... Alabama got rolled. Wow. Sports books around the nation are in mourning today..

Nick said something funny at half time.... "all those copy cat plays we didn't prepare for"... wow. Congrats to Clemson on a well executed effort.

Yeah, i darned near started a new thread to congratulate Clemson.

When they rolled up Notre Dame 30-3, that must have showed doubters a thing or two.

They beat Notre dame by 27 points and Alabama by 28 points.

I checked over a week back how Notre Dame did against my Stanford Team and we got the snot beat out of us.

Notre Dame may be equal to Alabama.

Clemson is a terror. 15-0 is the first time a team did this in college in one year. I believe it validates the play off system. But for a playoff, Alabama would be ranked number 1. Clemson clearly is the best team in this country.

Have to say, Clemson actually did show up last night. That said, no... ND isn't the equal of Bama. Not even remotely close. But that actually is their own fault. ND doesn't play anyone especially hard or talented throughout their season, and it shows. I doubt that ND would have been able to beat most of the SEC teams that played in the bowls. I doubt they would have been able to beat UCF>.

I just got a huge kick out of Saban suggesting that Clemson used all of those "copy cat plays we didn't prep for". That was priceless.

Oh, and my latest thought here... Why play the game in west BFE? Why not somewhere folks from the fan bases could actually reasonably travel to? Like ATL? of somewhere warm... like FL?

They apparently believed my local stadium where the 49ers play is the superior venue. It is new. it is huge. It has perfect set up for spectators and TV and the rest. Best health facility available I believe it is.

I forgot to comment but Saban struts around like a peacock. And I feel sorry for that black man who must follow his every move carrying a glass of gatorade. It looks presumptions for Saban to make him walk around with a glass of that in is hand in case Saban wants a drink.

You might be right as to the teams. But you sure rate our teams in the west as not good. Stanford has many excellent teams. They offer far more than merely football. Stanford played a season using hurt players.

I believe our time zone helps too. The game can be seen easily in the East with a time that works well for those here in our time zone.

I just point out the roughly half of the seats in the stadium were empty... Folks who plan this should have thought about it. Cost of travel, cost of the stay, etc. Santa Clara, one of the most expensive places in the US to travel to and stay. We're talking about folks from AL and SC. Should have played somewhere else.

Oh on the temperature. I believe last evening here it was about 65 degrees or in that area. Not too bad for playing a game like football.

Are you talking last nights game? That stadium is rated to hold 71,000 spectators and for that game they had over 74,000. They added seats the announcer said on ESPN.

Perhaps you just assumed that those two teams would come out on top. It does cost more to stay in San Francisco but Santa Clara is less expensive than SF is. But those universities have plenty of money. And the two teams had a strong base of fans that showed up.

Believe me though, i know why you say that. But don't forget this stadium is very very new. When the 49ers built it, they went top class.

    Image from the game...

Whole sections of the upper deck empty....Looks like a nice small stadium. AL seats over 100K. Clemson seats over 81K. Maybe the 49ers are more interested in exclusivity? Hard to say...

I did not say is the largest stadium. But that photo was not taken at game time or a lot of them headed to the toilets. The announcers said there were more there than it was built to handle.

I am not in charge of where those games are held. But when it is best time for the East, it sucks for us here in the West. The game commenced earlier than we might like it for the fans in the East.

When Clemson played Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, they had a smaller crowd.
