It's not the easy road to walk when it is politically and socially unpopular to present conservative views. The easy road is to take the liberal stances; you'll be lauded on social media and the press, you'll get to bask in your feelings of validation as the mainstream establishment pats you on the head for parroting their views. This entire high road/low road dynamic is just inconsequential to me. The Left fetishizes having political views that conform to this trendy sense of progressive morality, I don't.

Conservatives see a terrorist attack and think it is indicative of deep seated violent doctrines in the Muslim religion, not that every single Muslim is responsible. Your few bad apples cliche is consistently torn apart in deeper discussions. Only a small minority of any group actually commits violence in its name. Only a fringe minority of Germans actually participated in the Holocaust; but if you polled all Germans at the time, you would see huge percentages of people who would admit to wanting all of the Jews exterminated or expelled from Europe. Now with Islam only a fringe minority are actually chopping off heads and blowing themselves up, but huge percentages of Muslims support the oppressive aspects of the religion like death for apostates, genital mutilation, death penalty for gays, etc.

The funny thing is that you probably think an accusation of racism or bigotry still has power to intimidate people into shutting up; it doesn't anymore. Once everyone the Left disagrees with is Literally Hitler, they've run out of name-calling ammo and actually have to engage ideas that trigger them.

Tell this to everyone who lived in pre-Islamic North Africa, Spain, and Byzantium, as well as to the Eastern European countries conquered and dominated by the Ottoman Caliphate. Tell this to Indians whose civilization was literally ripped apart by conflicts stemming from Islam's expansion into the Indian subcontinent. India only had a minority Muslim population and the strife was so great the two populations (Hindu and Muslim) had to be separated into different countries. Considering how poor Islam's track record looks do you honestly believe if a country like France became majority Muslim that it would be substantially no different from France today?

Culture is more than just superficial things like music, food, and fashion, it's also manifested in a country's laws, political tradition, and mores. Islam is a supremacist religion, and its devoted adherents have nothing but contempt for law not predicated on Islamic principles or dogmas.

I'm sure there are exceptions to this but I doubt most people choose political positions that will make them more popular. Besides, if that were the case, there would be a difference between what those people actually believe and what they say in public. I'm saying that people who actually embrace conservative values privately are intellectually lazy--regardless of what views they take publicly.

I have no doubt that there are conservatives who embrace this view, but it is almost as stupid as thinking all mooslims are responsible for terrorist attacks. What is the ratio of Muslims to Muslim terrorists? Thinking that a tiny fraction of Muslims represent the religion is asinine.

What if I said "only a fringe minority of conservatives hate gays, blacks, mexicans and mooslims, but if you polled them you would find that a significant number of conservatives think America would be better without those people." If your statement is true, so is mine.

You don't have to shut up. You just have to face facts and face your shame. Conservative views are largely built on bigotry. The first step to fixing that is acknowledging the problem. Bigotry existed well before Hitler. Besides, I'm not the one who Godwined this thread.

Doesn't seem like many of the other religions that shaped this country had any significant impact on our laws, unless you're one of the folks who think our laws are based on Judaeo-christian principles. So I don't see any reason to believe Islam will shape our laws.
