I wouldn't put it past the Chinese to cause this outbreak as the longer it goes on the more turmoil it will cause especially in the West and to its economies. China seems to have dealt with the virus quite rapidly seeing as so many people were infected in such a short space of time....It's almost as if they were prepared to deal with it.

I don't know about coronavirus being a biological weapon, but China is in a position to kill us if they'd like. They control the ingredients for nearly all the antibiotics we take, along with ingredients for many other drugs.

If I were to consider a good conspiracy theory about COVID-19, it would start with China coming up with a virus that only kills old sick people. Think of the economic benefits of that just in China. Old sick people are a drain on their resources. Did the virus get out of their control, or did they allow it to spread deliberately? As someone over 60 with pre-existing conditions, shouldn't I feel targeted?

Really, guys ... if you're determined to make this virus a global conspiracy (which I don't believe), make it a good one based on who is doing the dying.

its the wet market that has many various different species of animal Crammed together. but there are alot place like this in Asia, africa, S.america especially in developing countries. while SARS and COV19 was due to wet market, ebola, MERS and swine flu in 2009 from N.america was not due to wet market. the 2009 swine flu kill about 500,000 worldwide, and infect tens millions, and it was from swine slaughter house in N.america. so even get rid of wet market worldwide doesn't necessary mean this wont happen again. as long as there is slaughter house that cram livestock together, that kind of condition is ideal for bacteria and virus breeding. remember the bird flu or the mad cow disease.

But yes, I think you are quite correct there are many conditions that breed pathogenic disease. Mad cow is an interesting one because while a virus can be considered on the boundary between a living organism and a simple particle, a prion is mis-folded protein and cannot be considered alive by any measure yet there it is.

Since they stopped feeding rendered livestock to protein to other livestock, that may have helped contain the problem but prion induced disease is such a slow progressing disease that can take years to show symptoms so I'm not so sure.

They first noticed prion disease in humans in Papua New Guinea where tribespeople would eat the flesh of their ancestors as a sign of reverence.

It is interesting timing. Trump is renegotiating trades deals with China, that may be angry thinking, "Hey, we gave people like Hunter Biden (apparent) kickbacks. What's with renneging on our deals? We need a dem in charge to reverse this". And crisis tends to cause US to vote for incumbents. That helps Trump. But without this crisis cementing in incumbents?
