Riding a bike is similar to jogging in a park and it is a hard exercise. You don't have to wear a mask when your are on a bike. Doctors do not recommend wearing masks for joggers and cyclists.
I am what they call a “Banana Bender” and I just remembered I was supposed to do an early vote today Darn! Do it next week! Anyway old Anastasia has been doing a tough but good job of keeping numbers down
It's interesting but not surprising that you did not comment on "how's your constitutional governance" element. Did you know that a federal court ruled recently that the Pennsylvania efforts were unconstitutional? Do you even care? I live in Florida and yes, things are nearly back to normal. There are still masked men and women walking the streets, but those numbers appear to be reducing. There are merchants like Lesh who won't let an unmasked person enter his place of business, but for the most part the mask issue has been reduced to individual zealots frightened of a virus, as the Governor noted that no fines against the unmasked will be enforced. The rule of law is weak here in the US, but there is some activity. The actions of the Michigan governor were declared unconstitutional recently, by that state's Supreme Court. In the Penal Colony Down Under, they arrest bicycle riders for going too far from home, and they arrest pregnant women for thought crimes. As long as the inmates put up with it, it will only get worse.
You know the answer better than I. We both know the taste of the Fauci Kool Aid. I quickly tired of it, you still gulp it by the gallon.
always people that take things too far she was the one that made him not safe, how many has she come in contact with that day, he was socially distanced, and she made herself come into contact with him, not the other way around the right always acts like cops never try to escalate a situation, but some do, some get an adrenalin rush from such confrontations, some like to hassle people for no reason now that said, some try to push the limits and get attention by doing so, drawing the police in too
I doubt they're that horrible. It seems far more likely (to me, at least) that they have a cultural dread of rogue Govt. There is zero precedent for it in recent American - or indeed Western - history, but for some reason Americans think it's immanent. It's why Preppers exist in number in America, but no so much elsewhere. They literally think the Govt is going to go rogue any minute - regardless of who is in power. So, anything like 'rules and regulations' pertaining to the way we behave in public day to day, gives them night terrors. They think it's thin end of wedge stuff, and that it somehow can't be reeled back when no longer required. Every nation which has had strict pandemic protocols has reeled theirs back, even the most 'totalitarian' nations .. so it's completely without any basis in reality. It's quite unhinged, TBH. And there's no reasonable way to avoid blaming Hollywood.
How did we live like rats in cages? We don't have a huge number of apartment dwellers in this country, and most who do live in them do so purely by choice - as a lifestyle. And it's a lifestyle of the higher socio-economic orders. The poorest people in this country live nowhere near the inner cities. IOW, no one actually cares about the 'suffering' of big city apartment dwellers. For the majority of us, there was no cage involved. We had our gardens and backyards, we had our leafy neighbourhoods to walk around, our friends and neighbours to chat to, etc etc. Quite a lot of us also live near places where total freedom could be enjoyed. Beaches, forests, large parks, rivers, mountains etc.
Yes, closing state borders was one of the best moves we made. Humans have known from antiquity, that movement is lethal during a plague.
Choice to do what? Cross a state border? Go overseas? Just how often do you think the average Australian needs, or even wants, to do those things? Sacrificing your week in Bali or interstate weekender, in order to have a nation in which you can be TRULY free (in so many ways that Americans aren't) is an insanely good deal. I would trade a few months of lockdown for this level of freedom any day. You won't remember what pre-COVID freedom feels like of course, given it's been so long for you guys. Maybe that's why you don't get it? You just can't remember that feeling?
So we should all be free to do whatever we want, whenever we want? To hell with the society we live in and depend upon? Millions all working at cross purposes so nothing gets done? Yeah, no thanks. I see Americans still chafing under a never-ending, mandatorily masked, semi-lockdown, coupled with the ever-present threat of this very nasty virus, and wouldn't trade with you for anything. The reality is that travel interstate or overseas is a ridiculously easy thing to 'sacrifice' because it's not something the vast majority want or need to do on a regular basis. Have a look at current images of people going about their business like it's 2019 in Australia and New Zealand. You guys can only dream of that at this point, and you've made a terrible trade for it. Refusal to sacrifice incredibly unimportant 'freedoms' (recreational travel, etc) for a few months, means you probably won't get anywhere near 2019 freedoms, for a long long time. There's zero logic in that .. absolutely none. That's why I think these objections are driven by envy. You're too smart to be that stupid, so it's something else. The following pic was taken in Australia in MAY - that's how long we've had no significant limits to our freedoms, no significant COVID (in most of the country), and no mandatory masks: And the following pic was taken in New Zealand on friday: This is what we fought for. This kind of normality, ease, and confidence.
