So, you do see how 30 round Magazines serve a useful purpose.

Considering eighty four people were murdered in the nation of France with a motor vehicle, perhaps there should be background checks on motor vehicle operators. Since motor vehicles are not constitutionally recognized or protected, disqualifying behavior to prohibit their legal operation can be even more extensive than firearms ownership.

I guess your logic is that the assassin killed all he intended with a 10 round mag and a 30 round mag would not have increased the lethality. You'll have to tell that to military. They issue 30 round mags for increased performance when weight is not an issue.

A useful purpose in the military, yes.

Please reply to my entire quote. It is unethical to do otherwise.

Pray tell why do private citizens not have need for such magazines? Explain the reasoning on why individuals who are devoid of backup support in everyday life need less ammunition, than a company of soldiers who have each other to rely on should the situation get bad.

There is no lack of ethics present in replying to only the relevant portions of a particular statement.

30 round Magazines do have a useful purpose in a Law Abiding Person's Gun, to defend against a Gang of Criminals.

Exactly. Had the perp with the truck in France had a background check he wouldn't have killed all those people- what? A background check couldn't have stopped him? Oh. My mistake. I went liberal there for a second.

And how much more do citizens need 30 round mags when there no backup whatsoever in a hot zone? You still didn't answer my question. If mag bans are useless ( as Dallas shooting show'd us) then why make one in the first place?

Like your, more guns and high cap mags make for less gun violence....cause people will be intimidated by gun toters. That makes a lot of sense .....in third world countries.

Private citizens don't have a need for high cap mags for self defense. Why ? Because you guys just stated that 10 rounds are just as effective. So, it's a military supplement. You don't need to lay down suppressive fire. The last time I looked, you guys aren't all in the military. It should be reserved for police and military use.....cause according to you, they are no better then 10 rd mags.....and you guys are civilians.

If you feel you need them to lay down suppressive fire as a civilian, you need to stop offending so many people that they all gang up on you in groups of 10 or more. That is a comunication problem you need to work on.

I want you to post your credentials in the tactical use of firearms to justify the completely IDIOTIC claim that private citizens don't have a need for self defense>

CIVILIAN cops have 17 round pistols and 30 round rifles and they are LESS LIKELY to need that since unlike us private citizens-THEY USUALLY CHOOSE THE TIME AND PLACE they confront armed criminals. WE DO NOT.

WHEN YOU GUN BANNERS can GUARANTEE THAT MY HOME WILL NOT BE ATTACKED BY MORE THAN ONE CRIMINAL, CARRYING NO MORE THAN TEN ROUNDS, then you can start telling me I don't need more than ten rounds. until then your arguments are specious tripe

This is a statement of ignorance and/or dishonesty.
You should refrain from citing sources that either do not know what they're talking about, or choose to lie.

Agreed, his source in particular is showing fully featured ak's which is not what a saiga is. The saiga was specificly made as a sporting rifle. It shares AK parts and is made by izhmash but it is not a "classic assault rifle" it can have parts added to make it LOOK like an assault weapon. But it is a semi auto only rifle. It was made so that izhmash could get around the importation ban.

And yet you have presented no explanation as to why.

That is the question. Do you intend to actually answer it? Or are you merely going to deflect because you do not have an answer?

You are missing a key factor in the discussion. The Dallas shooter intended to commit murder. His actions were like a hunter stalking game, he was in control of not only when he fired, but who he shot at. He was the predator of the situation, not the prey.

Comparatively, private citizens who are defending themselves against a violent attack are the prey of the equation, and have no say over when they will be confronted, where they will be confronted, or how many they will be confronted by. The only say they have in the situation is how much ammunition they carry with them at any given time.

Try again. Explain why someone who is sought out in such a predatory manner, does not have need for more than ten rounds of ammunition at any given time.

And what is your answer if a violent threat does not stop even after being successfully shot ten times? What if they do not stop because their system is compromised by either narcotic substances, or significant levels of adrenaline?

So you now admit, the Dallas shooter could have killed more effectively and shot more coos if he had access to a 30 round clip. That didn't take a genius to finally realize that. We knew that in the military.

He had "access" to whatever gun or magazine he could afford. Apparantly, he didn't think he needed 30 round magazines.

He didn't need a 30 round magazine. He took his time to execute his mission and had plenty of time to reload from smaller magazines.

No question. Besides, I can load a 10 round clip into my SKS in about 2 seconds. I bet I could fire 40 rounds from that SKS almost as fast as an AK using detachable 30 round mags.

The narrative that the Dallas killer used an SKS as I mentioned in an earlier post, was incorrectly reported as an SKS. It was an AK-74...with a 30 round magazine. Below is a photo of the gun at the scene of his death.

    http://lawofficer.com/2016/07/exclusive-photo-of-the-saiga-ak-74-rifle-used-at-dallas-shooting/

That said, as I have shown before with multiple videos, guns with 10 round magazines can be loaded and fired quickly enough to obviate the 30 round magazine size difference.

The biggest factor with guns and magazines is reliability, not magazine size. Poor quality magazines, often those made and sold cheaply, or those that have been damaged or have weak springs can cause feeding problems that can cause jams that are not easily or quickly cleared, particularly by someone that hasn't performed such clearing operations. I have see many 60+ round magazines I would not bet my life on in a combat situation. I have seen many people load 30 rounds in their magazines, even 31, which can cause problems with initial feeding, depending on the magazine, and many veterans will mitigate this as a potential problem by only loading 27 or 28 rounds. Some AR type guns can jam or fail to go into battery if not properly lubbed, something novices or those unfamiliar with their weapon's characteristics might not have properly done (there are some BCG's and uppers that are less prone to fail when not properly lubbed). I have seen people that buy 5.56 ammo in bulk that acquire ammo of poor quality, or those that have AR's only for handling .223 and not both .223 and 5.56 that can cause problems nearly impossible to fix quickly in the midst of a combat situation like failures to extract because of expanded or split cases or popped primers jamming buffer tubes or getting lodged between locking lugs and the chamber preventing feeding that takes time to diagnose and fix. ARs are excellent weapons, but for someone not intimately familiar with their operation and as importantly, trained with resolving problems under stress, it can result in a bad day at the office. The Aurora shooter had a 100 round mag and his gun jammed.

I also appears that many posting here do not understand the difference between a clip and a magazine. While they may exist, I haven't seen a clip that holds more than a 10 rounds... Would be too hard to use quickly or reliably.

AK's are inferior to AR's. The AK variant Mac-90 I had I sold. Only shot a 6 inch group at 100 yards, the stock kept coming loose, and poor ergonomics. The Panther psychopath Mr. Johnson probably just used the SKS because he liked it better and shot better with it. No big deal to quickly put another 10 rounds in it.

Once again you are outright refusing to answer the question that was presented to you on this matter. This means that you have nothing of actual relevance to actually contribute to the discussion, and no reason to be participating in the discussion. Either answer the question as it was presented to you, or refrain from participating any further, as is dictated by the forum rules. Explain precisely why someone who is sought out in such a predatory manner, does not have need for more than ten rounds of ammunition at any given time. Explain why eleven rounds of ammunition for legal purposes is too much for any private citizen to have at their disposal, and should be prohibited by law.

You have yet to answer the question, why you need more then 10 rounds when it is just as effective as 30, as you guys keep saying. We had use for it in the military.....of course you have to believe those who actually did serve and not the toy soldiers who did not.

Your eye witness account ? So, it actually takes more time to reload a 10 round ? Of course it does. Don't be obsurd. In combat with police, timing is essential. The more firepower a 30 round mag gives you, the better for the assailant and more lethal you become. That you would not concede that means you know little about military training.
