Your "explanation" doesn't change the fact that it's true that women don't want virgin men and find sexually experienced men attractive, which is just as demeaning to men as the idea that men want virgin women and find sexually experienced women unattractive is demeaning to women. 2) I am 100% for reciprocal politeness -- which was the rule in the far past.

3) A tyrant is not a snowflake -- they are much worse. For instance Google allows hate speech against men and Conservatives while banning dissenters for slightest objection.

 

I would say a snowflake is a potential tyrant. The reason why a snowflake wouldn't be a tyrant is because they don't have power. Google has power.

And it's very clear who they hold power over because who they allow you to criticize. Everything forbid you from criticizing is the oppressor. Google is the means to oppress or the tyrant.

 

I understand your point, but I do not presume anyone to harbor tyrannical tendencies before they express them explicitly.

I presume people to harbor tyrannical tendencies based on the fact that they are human. It takes great effort not to be a tyrant. Because you have to accept that what you believe it's not necessarily fact.

Wait, what? Are you saying that women shouldn't have sex for fun, but they should have sex with every willing male because refusing to do so is demeaning to men?

Finding people unattractive is not demeaning. Sexist attitudes are demeaning.

 

I'm suggesting that it's just as much a sexist attitude for women to find male virgins unappealing as it is for men to find sexually promiscuous women unappealing.

 

Possibly this is back to front. Could it be the reason a male is still a virgin is because he’s unappealing?

I'm sure this is true in a number of cases, but any study you want to consult will tell you that women find virgin males less appealing than sexually experienced males, even controlling for all other factors. I've heard tell (not known to me personally) of a guitar player in a band who couldn't get laid because he never had before. Now how many guitar players in bands go without for very long? Even really bad bands have female groupies.

 

In my experience there is no such thing as a virgin guitar player in Rock and Roll...Maybe Christian Rock.

 

Men finding sexually active women unattractive is not demeaning, it's just finding people unattractive.

 

Tell us how men suffer. I guess whenever women complain about sexism and patriarchy it means we hate men. That’s women bashing by the way saying something so inane. Women care about issues in the world as well but for generations we were not part of these issues. We were excluded

 

That’s like saying to a person that jokes about thin people are upsetting the same way fat jokes are That is like saying racist jokes are the same as white jokes. You just don’t get it

They are, I never understood why people think it's bad to make fun of and embarrass fat people but just fine to make fun of and embarrass skinny people. Explain why it is OK to embarrass a skinny kid with the "Hey he's so skinny he has to run around in the shower just to get wet" Everyone laugh. But not "Hey he's so fat it takes a fire hose to take a shower".

What distinction are you trying to make between a racist joke and a white joke? If it is a joke belittling whites or a white person isn't it racist just as if it was about whites or Asians or Indians?

Is being white like being skinny, you're fair game for such remarks and jokes?

And back to the point, why is it OK to make sexist jokes about men, women can make them about men, but not about women, men can't make them about women. What is the distinction you are making?

Its not. Unfortunately it is innevitable.

However, if my daughter's experiences are any indication, other girls and women are far more often the source of 'shaming' than boys and men are (boys and men have their own methods they employ primarily against eachother as well).

To be clear, attempting to reduce the negativity of social interaction is noble, but only so long as its accompanied by an equal attempt at making people more resilient to the negativity.

Simply blaming everything on one group just makes the other group into helpless victims. Thats not what we want to do.

Shaming only happens because its effective. Its happening more because people are more susceptible to it. When it stops working, people will stop trying to do it.
