I take full advantage of what congress writes into the tax code -- every loss, deduction, and credit so that we pay the very least possible. Congress wants you to take advantage.

I begrudge the federal government every butt-wiped penny, because they are so inefficient and waste so much.

Go Trump and start taking your salary, give them nothing.

He didn’t lose it all. That’s inane. And he may not have inherited the office but he most definitely inherited the economy.

You my friend don't understand how this works. If you really want to know how much income Trump has all you have to do is look at the financial disclosures he must file and is checked against his returns to insure the very thing your really worried about. For some reason I doubt you really care about nothing more than a talking point and won't even look at them.

The goal is to take a lot of losses and have positive cash flow.

The story seemingly being pushed is that he did lose it all.

I agree that trump was lucky to take office with two years of a gop congress. Obama wasn’t so lucky

Obama was handed Republican failures. Trump was handed a recovery.

Why should Trump release his taxes to you or any others who have no need or right to know? You wouldn't understand the complexity's of his returns. The NYT purposely and illegally gave out tax information of some of his business. That has been mostly known for years. It was done to make him look bad. Bankruptcies are bad right? No, usually not but I won't elaborate on why. Just know that major corporations reorganize by declaring bankruptcy on a regular basis, nothing illegal as the socialists at the NYT would have you believe.

Real estate developers use leverage and other complex financial strategies to acquire properties. It is not too much unlike house flipping except on a much larger scale. You buy low on margin. Leverage that asset to buy another while closely watching interest rates. Real estate normally appreciates if it can be held long enough. That is not always possible when interest rates are high. In that case property has to be liquidated at a loss. The loss is shown on income tax filings and can be carried over indefinitely. Some of Trump's deals involved partnerships and joint ventures. If successful trump would in many cases buy out his partners, again with leveraged financing. None of this is illegal or unethical.

GEEZ he wrote a book about it!!!!! I bet it even made the NYT best seller list!!!

Trump: The Art of the Comeback

Trump's story begins when many real estate moguls went belly-up in what he calls the Great Depression of 1990. Trump reveals how he renegotiated millions of dollars in bank loans and survived the recession, paving the way for a resurgence, during which he built the most successful casino operation in Atlantic City, broke ground on one of the biggest and most lucrative development projects ever undertaken in New York City, and outsmarted one of South America's richest men for rights to the Miss Universe pageant.

Blunt, outrageous, smart as hell, and full of hilarious stories--check out his chapter "The Art of the Prenuptial Agreement"--Trump tells it like it is: the women in his life; the wild and woolly deals; negotiating tactics; his investment philosophy; and his strategy for success or coming back from adversity.

Whether you love him or hate him, one thing is certain about Donald Trump: He is a true American original, with great instincts and billion-dollar dreams. The Art of the Comeback is Trump at his best--unpredictable, irreverent, and irrepressible.

    From Library Journal
Six years ago real estate developer Trump (Trump: The Art of the Deal, LJ 2/15/88) was several billion dollars in debt, owing in part, he says, to his complacency and the Tax Reform Act of 1986.

Who at the NYT didn't even check their own best seller list northern known history of the times before attempting this political hit piece?

Pay no tax at all if you possibly can. That shows you are very, very smart.

Trump has no connection to hard working Americans except
    1. to screw them out of pay checks when they work on his projects and
    2. to dupe them into believing is richer than he really is.

IF Trump was an honest man with no history of manipulating number and we had something other than his word (which has no credibility) you would have a point.

Funny, I read that brief profile and noticed his Forbes Philanthropy score is 1, as low as you can go other than getting an N/A for none...

Sure ... someone who ruthlessly goes over corpses, crashes others, daily bull **** says, has the decency of a Neanderthal man, the world knowledge of a rednack that comes from a family which mankind is a race empires and a Breed arms divided and much more, is a typical American original!

OK ... if you say that as an American, then as a European, I want to believe it that way ... and it will explain much for me!

So, it’s TDS to note that right when Trump was peddling “The Art of the Deal” he was actually losing $100 million of his dad’s money every year!

The story, of course, is that Trump conned you and you fell for it.

I have been telling you Trumpsters that Trump was no brilliant billionaire for four years now.

I have known that since the 1980’s.

But, as the posts from the Trumpsters here make clear yet again, every con man knows that his staunchest defenders are always the guys he suckered.

And the Russians piggybacked on that con by making a lot of conservatives into useful idiots for their propoganda effort,

The worst recovery of any recession since the second WW but hey it was a heck of a recovery in fact Obama's last qtr was a whopping 1.6% GDP growth. Flaming hot economy I say. You guys say the same crap every republican president that has a good economy, you also then blame every previous presidents economy when the dem president's economy is lacking. Please god run on Trump's lucky economy you will get schooled by the American voter guaranteed.

Some broke dude on the internet is telling us that Trump's no brilliant billionaire yet he's flying a 737 all over the world visiting buildings with his name on there and your driving your yota to the café to log on to tell us how broke Trump. Irony at it's finest right here.

I am a retired business owner that retired early due to my successful business. Come tax time my business always showed a loss though. That's the way the game was played.
