    https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/28/us/atlanta-braves-tomahawk-chop/index.html

So, this article points out that it seems "ALL" American Native Indians are against the Atlanta Braves baseball team using their name, mascot and uniform as "The Braves." Also, they believe the Tomahawk Chop rallying cry of the Braves baseball team is also racist. The article sights statements from members and leaders of a couple of American Indian Organizations. One organization, the "Atlanta Indigenous People's Association" has a whopping 452 people following it's website. This started in 2017. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 99% of the American Indians in the Atlanta area, as well as around the country have no problem with the name of "Braves" nor the "Tomahawk" Chop.

It's obvious that people that claim racism with this "Tomahawk Chop" have no clue where it originated in the world of sports. To be brief, you can look it up on line, it began with the Florida State Seminoles Football Team (College - FSU) being supported by the Seminole Indians in Florida and they still support the Chop. Dion Sanders, a super athlete a few decades ago was a two sport athlete in football and baseball. He attended and played his football at FSU. Guess where he got the idea of the Tomahawk Chop from? When he went to the NFL, he also played professional baseball with the Atlanta Braves. In fact, on one occasion, he played in a Dallas Cowboys football game and flew on the same day to Atlanta and played in a baseball game with the Atlanta Braves. So, guess where the Tomahawk Chop idea came from. Yep, the Seminole Indians through Dion Sanders.

The Chop is not racist. Calling the baseball team The Braves is not racist. It's a few people in small organizations trying to get their name out there to grow memberships.

    Hmmm...
    Here is the ACTUAL Title:

'Dehumanizing' and 'racist.' Native leaders decry Braves' 'Tomahawk chop' ahead of World Series game in Atlanta

    ^Nothing about "cancel culture".:bored:

Anyway, even though you blatantly Editorialized the Title (which is against the Rules in Current Events), I shall (in my infinite magnanimity) make a salient contribution to the topic.

    The Commish has it right:

"It's important to understand we have 30 markets around the country," Manfred said before Game 1 of the World Series, according to ESPN. "They're not all the same. The Braves have done a phenomenal job with the Native American community."

The whole thing seems like PC Run Amok.
And, I don't see the Atlanta MLB Team changing their team name in the near future (if ever).

You know what kills me? It’s the people who call those they disagree with Nazis, haters, bigots, misogynists, sexists, homophobes, Islamophobes, fascists, red necks, hicks, trailer trash, and more. Those people are worried about offending people.

This only stops when people ignore this fake outrage.

Let them tweet it, tik tok it, instagram it, pinterest it, facebook it, snap chat it, etc all they want. But do not acknowledge it or give it any legs. People will continue to become fake outraged until it stops being beneficial to their brand and let's face it, that's their only motivation.

Wasn't their a poll amongst native americans regarding the Redskins name and they overwhelmingly were NOT offended? I can't remember the exact numbers but it wasn't even close to 50-50 IIRC.

Woo de doo - getting offended if they electively decide to change their name is no different. "Offensive" is highly subjective, but it's their prerogative if they want to change it nonetheless.

Yada yada yada. So much whine over irrelevant nobodies on social media misusing the ad hom fallacy.

This has been around for decades. I remember her fellow liberals bashing Hanoi Jane when she was with Ted Turner.

Some folks can see racism in anything and perhaps everything. Some even see racism in a white loaf of Bread. I think it says more about these folks seeing racism in everything and anything more about them than anyone and everything else.

I remember a few years back when ESPN and all their reporters refused to use the word Braves. They used Bravos instead. That last about a year or so.

Cool. The world isn’t ending either if transsexuals don’t get their own bathrooms, yet look at what a “BIG DEAL” that is, for a fraction of a fraction of the populace.

Don’t think the Chiefs are going to stop the chop.

I don't even remember such an event. I did a quick web search and didn't find anything.

    Like I give a f*ck?

This is just more whining and getting offended over people whining getting offended - nothing original about it.

Why is the world going to end if they keeping using it? They’ve been using it for years and we’re still here.

You want a law made where anyone doing the chop is guilty of a hate crime? Heck, the knock out game wasn’t even a hate crime.

Oh, you’re going to love this. I’m starting to believe that liberal outrage is contagious as is the need to always find something new to be outraged about.

edit: MLB has black pitchers. Does the left want them to warm up in a barn like they were animals?

PETA Wants Baseball to Replace 'Bullpen' With 'Arm Barn,' Cementing their Place in Clown World

With the World Series in full swing, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) decided it needed to dig for relevance. So they took to their Twitter account and tweeted this gem.

“Bullpen” refers to the area of a “bull’s pen” where bulls are held before they are slaughtered—it’s a word with speciesist roots & we can do better than that. Switching to “arm barn” would be a home run for baseball fans, players, and animals.

When libs finally come to accept their role in slavery they’ll then refer to slavery as investments in long term multi generational apprenticeships and blast us for criticizing their generosity.
