The actual number is 85%, but you are right in saying that these places that Republicans love to demonize are the economic powerhouses of the nation, and everyone knows it.

And they are moving to.......liberal metros in other States. Relocating is nothing new. Companies do whatever makes sense to them. Some have to stay in very expensive areas like the silicone valley, because that is where the talent is, while some others can move to Dallas or Austin, even though those places are quickly becoming unaffordable too. Some move out of the country. Miami is already as expensive as Manhattan NY.

Not only do we produce more in GDP, we give hand outs to the lowly red states who cant support themselves.

That makes sense. Dem controlled counties are for the rich while the middle and poor scramble for the crumbs they throw out to get their votes.

Your right. We should let the red states go under entirely, and see what there residents think about that.

Most of that study is referring to the income tax structure. With the progressive income tax structure, people with higher income pay a higher tax rate.

The red states would not suffer if red states quit shipping food to the blue states and the blue states quit shipping money to the red states. It will be those blue states who will become very hungry.

I live in IL. You think we dont grow food here?

And if you really went that route. Red states would need all the food they could grow and then some to be able to feed all the poor and homeless lining up for food kitchens.

Course, Red states would likely just kick those people out to blue states anyways, OR, just let them die.

Republicans do not care about the general welfare. Its purely based on individual desires and outcomes.

We have fewer people and proportionately more farm land. You might produce more food, but it is for a larger population.

So what do you do with all that extra food then? Burn it so it cant go to an evil blue state? Obviously im sure you dont think that is the answer.

    Ok. Great.

Now breakdown that figure per capita.

    Let me know your findings.

I would prefer folks debate genuinely instead of editing out the parts they cant handle. Its not like we have limited space...

Food production is about 5% of our GDP. But I reckon most folks will agree that its more important than just a statistic ...when they're hungry.

My priority is health over wealth. Maybe in the conext of this discussion, it would be farmers over software engineers...

It was a democrat who started this discussion about how much better off blue states were according to GDP.

    Food-good. No food-bad.

Again, dont think we couldnt provide food. To think otherwise is moronic.

Not only would we ramp up food production, we would have more money to do it.

How exactly has "red counties hold 2/3 of the Supreme Court" been statistically derived?
Everything is indeed interconnected, but counties do not nominate SC justices...

If that was true, it would mean 80% of Americans are rich. If that was true, we'd be doing pretty darn good.

I'm pretty sure that's still what they want to do.

Don't pretend that you don't know this. The SC has been overrepresented by conservative judges for decades. Dem-nominated judges didn't have the majority on the SC for 50+ years, yet, Dem voters are the majority of the popular vote. Advantage red --- that's how it is designed.

Yep. Conservative SC was for abortion until they were against it.

And yet there are large red areas in blue states where the food, energy, and raw materials come from. In these places like where I live in California we are every bit as red as Idaho, Utah, Wyoming are.

And the fastest growing parts of the country are the exurbs. Places with 25k to 100k population that are 50 miles or so, sometimes more from any major statistical metropolitan area. A lot of Republicans have left the cities and their inner suburbs for places like these. Clearly rural and small town America can’t compete against urban America but with the growth of the exurb/ small city we can
