I doubt it. One reason that Trump eked out an electoral college victory in 2016 may have been that polls had firmly confirmed Clinton's lead prior to the election, and anyone not at all enamored of her, but preferring her to the loathsome Trump, was, as a consequence of the polls, licensed to throw away a vote on a third-party candidate or not vote at all, fully confident that Clinton would win, the horror of the crude reality-tv performer becoming President being unthinkable. Conspiracy theories that contrive the diverse and independent news media colluding in a common stratagem attributable to an ulterior motive is a bit beyond the pale.
Well I watch this video and this fellow was talking about why the polls could be off and he made fantastic points. Then he went on to explain why nothing sticks to Teflon Don. I'll put it in this post. He's a bit foul-mouthed so if you have kids in the room you may not want to listen to it but what he has to say is interesting.
2016 was a fluke, no one believed that republicans would actually vote for Trump, they won't repeat that mistake in 2020 Trump has shown the country who Republicans really are, and they are not the moral family values Christian party they had claimed to be, they are the party of Trump Trump has raised the debt more than any other President ever, another thing republicans said they were against
the same thing seems to be happening again. Do people believe the polls? They were absurd in 2016. Or the polls aren't reliable.
well the polls seemed to have Clinton way ahead. So polling data isn't reliable. I don't think that's going to convince the people that voted for him the first time not to do it again. Remember winning an election is about your base getting out to vote. You do that by exciting your base. The people who think Republicans are evil we're never his base.
CBS switched the question from enthusiasm about Biden or Trump (since that wasn't going very well for Dems) to enthusiasm about voting this year in general (which looks a little better than the other question). Voters who are most enthusiastic about Biden as a candidate are less likely to be enthusiastic about voting. Trump supporters are more likely to be enthusiastic about both Trump and about voting this year. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-biden-cbs-news-poll-analysis-enthusiasm-gap/
Trump isn't a Republican. He showed the country what America First Nationalism is. Republicans were, of course, not going to challenge him as most of his policies have leaned conservative. They'd be idiots not to support Trump and lose their own voters, since they plan to hold office for years after Trump is gone.
the polls were spot on in 2016, Trump lost the popular vote by millions what the polls need to take into account is the votes from smaller states are worth more than a vote from a bigger state Trump is an Affirmative Action hire, he did not get the most votes for President
well you may believe that, most Republican do not, in fact, anyone that disagrees with Trump is called a RINO now
Actually, overall, presidential polls were more accurate in 2016 than they had been in 2012. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/e...s/general_election_trump_vs_clinton-5491.html In 2020, there is a powerful incentive to dispose of Trumpery, and Biden just does not evoke the animus that Clinton did.
Polls are a snapshot of "today". A lot can happen in 90 days, and many of the most important voters are fluid and may not start thinking about the election or decide until October. Independents/Undecideds are the people who make the polls move up and down a few points month to month.
Therein lies a crucial FACTOR that is being largely ignored in 2020. https://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/2...idates-having-outsize-impact-election-n680921 While there was considerable coverage of 3rd party candidates in 2016 there has been NONE to speak of in 2020. The electorate is FOCUSED on the major party candidates and the number of UNDECIDED voters is the smallest that I can recall. While a vote for a 3rd party candidate was PROTEST in 2016 it is a LUXURY in 2020 that NEITHER side can afford. Furthermore there has NOT been the same UNRELENTING onslaught on Biden that Hillary suffered for 4 years at the hands of the GOP Congress. Yes, 2020 is Biden's election to lose and the Dems have an ABYSMAL track record of snatching DEFEAT from the jaws of VICTORY however the parallels to 2016 are simply NOT there in 2020. This election is unique in much the same way that 1992 was unique with Ross Perot. The electorate is sharply DIVIDED because of the DIVISIVENESS of the Covidiot-in-Chief. He is entirely responsible for bringing this about and Biden's strategy of standing back while the wannabe Dictator digs his own hole ever deeper appears to be working. What is KNOWN is that BOTH sides are DETERMINED to win and it does NOT matter what MOTIVATES that determination at this stage. What is also KNOWN is that HIGHER turnouts favor the Dems and the 2018 turnout was unprecedented. So the ODDS favor Biden at this point in time and we have just over 3 months to see what transpires.
Polls are moronic then if they don't reflect the electoral college. Popular vote never mattered. if they don't they're beyond worthless in the people who administer them are Beyond stupid. this country has been operating this way for 250 years. I don't believe pollsters are as profoundly stupid as you think they are. I just think people who are voting for Trump didn't say anything. When Polaris call me I don't tell them the truth. Yes he did get most of the votes he got 304 out of 538. Hillary only got 277. President Trump got most of the votes.
In the time where people we're forced out of their jobs because of support for Trump yeah they're not going to say they support Trump. Polls aren't accurate. I don't tell people how I'm voting it's none of their damn business. If I answer the phone and its a polling call. If I'm feeling kind of mean-spirited, I might feed them false data. If I can't be bothered the call is just screened. Apparently many other people do that too.
Alternately, most Americans are horrified at senior Democrats remaining silent over the rioting, and are now determined to punish the party whose mayors are doing NOTHING to stop the cycle of mayhem.
no one is silent over the rioting, every dem denounces that, what dems are upset with is Trump attacking peaceful protestors to get a photo op Trump is attacking peoples first Amendment rights
the polls in 2016 were spot on, Trump lost the poll on election night by millions.... Trump only won due to affirmative action for the smaller states
I sense a howl of leftist anguish this November when the same Electoral College again puts Trump in power. Long live our constitutional republic!
There are only 538 votes he can't lose by millions. If the polls do not reflect our electoral system they're stupid and worthless. No, he won 304 of the 538 votes. The popular vote has never been that we elect presidents.
Leftists want conservative sites censored all the time. Twitter gets away with it. Reddit gets away with it. GoDaddy gets away with it---selling ACTIVE web sites right out from under the owners (The Diplomad for one). Censorship is what leftists believe in. They are hypocrites for saying someone else wants to violate our First Amendment rights. Your claim that "every dem denounces that" is utterly false. Please. We read the news and their pleas for rioters to end this are NOT out there as you imply.
so you think the American voters votes don't count? Trump is an Affirmative action hire Presidents like Trump may win with fewer votes than their opponent, but it's still a fact to be noted....try not to let it bother you so much.
. What I think doesn't matter. Electoral votes count. That's reality regardless of your or my thoughts. He won the election. Hillary and the Democrats were idiots. They didn't know about the electoral college? If they are that illiterate with regard to the Constitution they shouldn't hold the office. Pick someone less stupid.
The relentless demonization of Clinton had weak-minded mobs screeching "Lock her up! Lock her up!" as if the US were some "shithole country" where political opponents are summarily imprisoned. What a disgusting, anti-American spectacle. (And the current Republican regime has not been able to contrive any charges against her.) I suspect that her unpopularity led to quite a few folks just not voting, confident that the far greater evil could not possibly be in the offing.
