    Key Takeaways
    • The bulk of federal tax revenue comes from income taxes, payroll taxes, and corporate taxes.
    • FY 2021 federal revenues aren't enough to pay for spending. That creates a $966 billion budget deficit.
    • Tax cuts implemented by Presidents Bush, Obama, and Trump to drive economic growth further reduced revenues.
    reduced revenues.
    reduced revenues.
    reduced revenues.

The tax revenue went up after the tax rate reductions. As per the chart I linked. It will likely go down in 2020 because of the virus.

SOME doctors did. I did not mean to imply every doctor in the first paragraph. I should have been clearer. My wife's doctor was well off enough to just retire, as he was nearing retirement age anyway.

"So, if ALL doctors quit..." was a hypothetical to make the point. I did mean all doctors there, to make the point.

The right to life prevents the government from taking your life without cause and due process.

It's like half the people on this board have never studied the US Constitution.

You should have indicated that in the post I responded to:

There was absolutely no mention of cause and/or due process in your post. It's like some people have never learned how to make a complete argument in a debate. Sad!

I shouldn't have to. That's something every American past high school age should know.

There are many things every American past high school should know. The fact that over 63 million of them voted for the Tangerine Turd is overwhelming proof that they don't...

Overwhelming proof? You'll have to explain that instead of just declaring it.

I never said they were. You claimed the tax revenue did not go up. It did.

They are problems none the less but I would say the pandemic and the economy are all we should be focusing on. The Dems are great at making promises but the promises they make are to take the voter's eye off the ball. Trump has done an epic job repairing the shambles Obama made of America because he focused on things that matter most. The Dem's blow rainbows out their ass and promise all sorts of lovely things they have no intention making good on and the wide eyed idiots lap it up. When the bows and pretty paper falls off these promises they blame it on the selfish Republicans. Right now America has some pretty significant problems and all the Democrats offer is free pony rides and balloons.

This summary is very good. I think it is instructive to list some of the specifics, and then contemplate why none of this came up at the Democrat convention.

housing is a right and not a privilege

repeal so-called "right to work" laws

recognize unions with majority sign-up—via "card check" processes

provide a federal guarantee for public-sector employees to bargain for better pay and benefits
guaranteed at least 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave for all workers and family units

enact universal, high-quality pre-K programs for three- and four-year-olds.

installing 500,000 public charging stations for electric vehicles

commit to public transportation as a public good

oppose any policy that promotes the privatization of public services or infrastructure

create a new tax credit of up to $15,000 to help first-time homebuyers

make sure investors pay the same tax rates as workers [means same rates for capital gains and earned income]

increasing Social Security benefits for all beneficiaries, meaningfully increasing minimum benefit payments, increasing benefits for long-duration beneficiaries, and protecting surviving spouses from benefit cuts.

reject every effort to cut, privatize, or weaken Social Security, including attempts to raise the retirement age, diminish benefits by cutting cost-of-living adjustments, or reduce earned benefits.

enrolling in Medicare when they turn 60

give all Americans the choice to select a high-quality, affordable public option through the Affordable Care Act marketplace.

    repeal the Hyde Amendment

every woman should be able to access ...... safe and legal abortion

reimagine public safety [whatever that means]

eliminating the use of cash bail

    abolishing the death penalty.

    ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment

enact universal background checks, end online sales of guns and ammunition

ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high capacity magazines.

requiring that guns be safely stored in homes

    rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement

eliminating carbon pollution from power plants by 2035

Within five years, ...... retrofit four million buildings

transitioning the entire fleet of 500,000 school buses and the three million vehicles in the federal, state, and local fleets to American-made, zero-emission alternatives within five years.

At the risk of being boring, here are a few more Education planks in the Democrat platform:

ban for-profit private charter schools from receiving federal funding.

    oppose private school vouchers

expanding universal free school meal programs

counter the rising tide of denialism by promoting environmental and climate literacy

make public colleges and universities tuition-free for students whose families earn less than $125,000

support making community colleges and trade schools tuition-free for all students

pause monthly billing and stop interest from accruing on federal student loans for people earning less than $25,000, and cap payments at no more than five percent of discretionary income for those earning more than $25,000. After 20 years, remaining federal student loan debt should be forgiven without tax liability. For those earning less than $125,000, forgiving all undergraduate tuition-related federal student debt from two- and four-year public colleges and universities

Which will be pretty quickly made up by taxes on the goods and services people will buy with it.
