(For Moderator's attention,this is not a copy paste article/spam) Tribal system in Eastern provinces,was one of the biggest problems for young Turkish Republic.The Kurdish tribes that formed a feudal oppression in the region for hundreds of years rejected Atatürk's civilization project from the start and tried to keep their backwards system.The defeated imperialist forces of Turkish Independence War always supported these uprisings. The biggest lie about Dersim uprising is it was suppressed with a big massacre.True,the uprising was suppressed aggressively by military force,after a fierce fight with rebels.But a massacre like it is claimed never took place.Today,PKK claims 90.000 people were killed,100.000 people were deported.But according to 1935 population count the total population of Tunceli (Dersim) is 101.000.The number of the ones that were forced to migrate is 5.000. In 1940 population count,the population of Tunceli (Dersim) is 95.000.According to offical numbers,the number of rebels that were killed during first Dersim operation is 265,Turkish losses is 29.The total number of executions is 7 and these are the tribe chiefs and vanguards of the uprising.Here are the offical numbers.Choice is yours.You can believe to Atatürk's goverment or PKK terrorist organization. Atatürk did not only took military precaution,civilization was taken to Tunceli (Dersim).The villages that lived isolated from city centers for hundreds of years were introduced to civilization and connected with the roads and bridges built.Hospitals,schools,court houses were built to bring justice.Doctors,teachers went to the region.The weapons of tribe chiefs who were keeping the people of the region under oppression,were taken away.Of course,all this civilization movements faced a resistence of kurdish tribes. Kurdish tribes prepared for the uprising for years.The leader of the rebellion,tribe chief Seyid Riza and rebels seeked French and British support.His letters to Great Britain Foreign Relations Ministery clearly proves that. And on 21st of March,1937,the date which PKK celebrates as Nevroz (the anniversary of the uprising),Abasan tribe under the command of Seyid Riza started the rebellion by burning Harcik bridge.Same night,they attacked to an outpost and murdered 33 Turkish soldiers.Aliser and Nuri Dersimi who were amongst the leaders of 1920 Kocgiri and Agri rebellions,took part in Dersim too. Next day,Pah municipality building,the new school and hospital building in Dersim were burned.The aim of the rebellion was clear.All symbols of Atatürk's republic and the civilization it brings. Of course,Atatürk ordered the suppression of the rebellion.Under the command of Tunceli (Dersim) major and general of the time Abdullah Alpdogan,the uprising was suppressed with a number of 20.000 force and vanguards were executed. This suppression,also known as "Dersim Operation",lasted until the power and authority of tribes in the region was fully broken.The leaders of tribes were exiled outside Tunceli (Dersim) and the republic regime was fully established.
Do you really mean the Kurdish uprising was only a tribal uprising to defend the tribal system? endless Kurds butchered because they refused to be civilized by Turks?? Is this what you are taught at schools in Turkey about Dersim?? such a rationalization puts you back in time, way far from the European civilization.
European "civilization" is good at sweeping its own dust under the carpet.No,I didnt learn these at school.School history is boring.
So you expect a goverment to stand still and do nothing when someone comes and kills your 33 soldiers? No military action was made until the uprising started. The word civilization doesnt represent personal attitude there.Its used to describe the region's rejection of the new regime. Because starting from Ottoman Era,it was a region which goverments couldnt manage to integrate.After republic was established,they refused to pay taxes,police,gendarme couldnt enter to the region. Try to form your own order and refuse the laws of the state for example in Germany,France and see what will those "civilizations" do to you.
