I'm not against private ownership of guns - but let's be real about this scenario. Statistics show a woman is far more likely to be shot in her house by and enraged boyfriend or husband using a gun already IN the house.
45% of adult female homicide victims are murdered by non-firearm means. Perhaps woman might need a gun to defend herself. Being smaller and weaker doesn't seem to be working. Those guns used to kill women likely aren't owned by the victims.
Doesn't change the fact that more women are killed by guns already in the house. Is what it is. I'm not saying this to argue that we should outlaw guns - we just need to be real about probabilities here.
I documented crime scenes for nine years - it RARELY works that way - sorry. I'm not making a judgement - I'm merely pointing out the statistics. We have to look at guns under the light of reality - not as some glorified Hollywood movie. Is what it is.
