In commercial media, the picture that is presented is a world with a handful of dictators who the US must overthrow in the interest of freedom and human rights.

Most dictatorships in the world are supported by the United States (Truthout, 9/23/17)—but this isn’t true of most governments described by US media as “dictatorships.”

The New York Times (3/19/19) doesn’t shy from labeling Nursultan Nazarbayev the “longtime president of Kazakhstan,” though in the ninth paragraph it notes “he won repeated elections with nearly 100 percent of the vote each time.”

This is not the kind of headline you get if you are a government in good standing with Washington (Miami Herald, 2/25/19).

I have my disagreements with James Madison, but truer words were never spoken:

"Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace."

I oppose standing armies as they feel the need to justify their existence with foreign adventures not in the interest of defending the homeland.

Moreover, at the intersection of military and industry lies economic stimulus, stimulus which is very difficult to relinquish after war. Look at how defense contractors spread out across many small towns in swing states to make their continued existence guaranteed.

Instead I support a people's militia. Ordinary people well versed in the use of arms, against enemies both foreign and domestic.

You people are not with it. The new interpretation of dictator is 'whoever is against us'. It's all semantics you know?

Whatever's 'right' is now called 'wrong'
and soon it'll come, it won't be long
when what goes 'up' will be the 'down'
and 'days' will turn into the 'night'

when 'darkness' reigns instead of 'light'. - Jeannette

I support militarism, like Prussia or Sparta was, where the entire state revolves around the military.

As Niccolò Machiavelli stated in "the prince", a leaders only role in peace time is to prepare for war".
