...refer to themselves as the "Party of Lincoln"? Do the leaders of the party try to live up to Lincoln's ideals?

We certainly aren't the party of the Klan, like Democrats. Yet Democrats still espouse the same hate, racism, and dependency that the party of the Klan did. When you look at the history of it all I'd say Republicans still win...

So I've heard. Another line is, "Republicans haven't seen Democrats this angry since we took their slaves away."

No....and NO. These new Republicans don't even like Reagan....make fun of Bush more than Dems did and I am not sure who they aspire to beyond Trump.

Its simply the natural response to the disaster that Obama was. Trump is the anti-establishment candidate, because the establishment failed America, both sides of it but more so the liberal trash like Obama and pals. Liberal antics like those used against Kavanaugh will only reinforce the need to destroy the establishment and keep liberals out of power...

The other 16 candidates apparently couldn't muster the support, but I guess that's something liberals wouldn't understand with their lack of choices and fixed primaries...

Trump was the only one to step up to the plate.

When the reputable politicians don't respond to the needs of the people, the people turn to the disreputable ones.

Here's a good one: "Democrats care about what's fair and true. Republicans only care about winning, no matter how much they have to lie and cheat"---Oliver Markus Malloy

Good luck with that, after the Kavanaugh disaster I wouldn't count on it...

when it came down to it, what were the alternatives? the republican candidates were all either establishment flunkies or unelectable and the democrats were even worse. one was the ultimate washington insider and the other was a fool who had failed miserably in the private sector and then suckled off the government teat for the vast majority of his life. trump, on the other hand, was a businessman and a well known brand. he was a conservative liberal (or, if you prefer, a liberal conservative) because playing the middle of the road is simply good business. an outsider to the corporate republicans and anathema to everything the progressives claim to believe in, he was the only one willing to take on the impossible task of reining in runaway government and forcing our unresponsive representatives to actually place the needs of the entire american people ahead of political gamesmanship and social engineering daydreams. that he was willing to place himself in that position is as near to heroic as we have seen from any of our elected officials in a long time.

Mostly they just refer to themselves as GOPers or members of the Grand Old Party. But as for your question, at least they do not insist on putting Black citizens on the metaphorical equivalent of ideological plantations so that they can learn to be helpless and dependent on handouts for their entire lives. So in that regard GOPers are still the Party of Lincoln.

When it comes to judging people based on their merit instead of their race, the Republicans are on the right track. The dems are still obsessed with racial discrimination. They have just changed how they go about discriminating.

Who? The same protesters who have been running riot since Trump was elected? There is actually no evidence that there has been a real surge, what we know is only that there has been a lot of noise. The more realistic scenario is that Republicans are more energized by both victory and the knowledge that Democrats sleazy tactics will be repeated, therefore motivating Republicans to vote far more than it will motivate Democrats...

Yeah. I was expecting a Blue Wave. But the Resistance may well have jumped the shark here.

On this video Trump said "we will be a country of law and order". Does he include tax laws? Because he has been breaking those laws:blankstare:
