I do not think so, 1) the casino (bs) uses machines now. 2) even it is beatable, it is worse than holdem poker, the swing can be huge, you may lost $5000 one night. - - - Updated - - - and 3) in some casinos, they use 8 decks.
People can still manage to beat the system. People with brains much more powerful than my own of course. I have a friend that's one of those card counter people and his brain is like a calculator. Back in college I'd be sitting there struggling with my Calculus homework using my big Ti-84 calculator and he would look at the problem, stop for a few seconds, look up at the sky, and spit out the answer. On occasion he would grab a sheet of paper and write out a good 2 pages worth of calculations that he managed to do in his head in like 10 seconds. It used to always blow my mind I figured he was BS'ing me and had the answers or something and was just pretending like he was smart. But no he really is that smart he's one of those people who can take weird numbers and just multiply them together and give you an answer somehow. He says he "sees numbers differently" or some crazy voodoo crap I don't know. But yeah he cleans house at the blackjack table whenever we went gambling. We'd been thrown out of a few joints because of him for that. Well HE got thrown out, I'd pretend like I didn't know him half the time. I don't know if he could/can pull that off with those 8 decks or machines or whatever but he sure as hell does at regular casinos. I'm that guy who gets sucked in by the beginners luck thing that casino's make you think you have. Show up with all this cash and start winning and get excited being completely oblivious to the fact that they are letting me win. Couple that with free drinks that they give you and I'm always that guy who's hammered pulling out money from the conveniently located ATM and going home broke and pissed off lol.
That depends on what you mean by "beatable". If you mean, can you make money from it, absolutely. However, the time to put in to beating the system is usually a waste because if they even get a "hint" that you might be counting cards (even if you aren't), you will be thrown out and banned. The payout usually isn't that great to be banned and after a while, you can just get blacklisted from the casinos altogether.
