Hey, I voted Liberal in my State election. ALP had been in for way too dam long, was time for them to go.

It's just sad that you consider an anti free trade, pro protectionism, pro subsidies party "right wing". Apart from hating gay people, and being a bit racist, and shouting a lot, you might as well have voted for the Greens.

I would shoot myself in the head before i would vote for the greens. Funny that the greens main support base isnt people that live in the bush but rather city living knobheads that have NO IDEA on the real issues pertaining to the bush and environment.

A lot of people who vote for the Greens do so because they're the only "largish" non authoritarian party.

They lost a fair few votes though didnt they, one wonders if that has anything to do with the federal issue?

They are pushing an agenda that the MAJORITY of voters dont want...Yet at a federal level they hold a lot of power. Yep there is going to be some major backlash against the greens come the federal election.

lol, "Bush people" vote for dickheads like Katter who want to give them huge Ethanol subsidies. Funny that. Agricultural industry has probably been the single most destructive industry to the environment in Australia. It's like all the dickheads in Grantham taking all the dam water out of the river and completely screwing over the people in SA. Rural Qld and Western NSW just happen to have a lot of swing seats, that's why all these retards throw money at them, and why Kevin Rudd couldn't go 5 minutes without saying "I'm a Queenslander".

Yes - there is no doubt KAP is a party of the left. He is also anti coal seam gas mining. Meaning that the anti-CSG vote was split between the Greens and KAP. So KAP got some votes, and the Greens has roughly held their vote since last election (~-0.8% swing).

The ALP deserved to go for they failure to properly regulate mining in the state. I hope CanDo can stand up to big Clive - or things may have just got a whole lot worse

THey shouldn't be excluded from politics - but I don't know why anyone would vote for one. A military career is hardly a good indication of intelligence.

I am sure Clive Palmer is now happy to have a Premier who has been trained to follow orders without question, but it is not a skill I really want in a politician.

You don`t know of anyone who`d vote for an ex serviceman? Really, judging on recent events, there must be quite a number of people less bigotted than you in Qld. Bugs, you have no idea. To try to sly hint that a military career is in any way a negative indication of inteligence, says more about your own inteligence than the person you are trying to belittle.

As for your Clive Palmer comment, it`s pure dribble.

Because I doubt that many of our soldiers can differentiate between a right cause and a bad one, eg. Iraq.
I haven't seen one coming home and taking Howard on for sending him to an unlawful war/invasion. That is one reason I don't like our soldiers be head of one of our states.
I am aware you don't like this, sorry bud, but you asked for it l!!!

Somebody who chose as a career getting shot in order to promote some idiots business or political interests is clearly not very bright. And anyone who follows orders without question is a moron.

Andrew Wilkie is of course a good example of the exception. He did actually question his orders, and showed up the lies told by the Howard Government. Good on him - and good to see him enter politics.

    bugalus,
I am 100% behind you, but we are alone.
To most Wilkie is a whistle blower, and only real heroes are awarded an Australian of the Year award, while others showing the dirty sides of the story are regarded as the most unaustralian (Assange).
Something in todays times is just plain wrong....

I am very surprised, that KAT's party actually got any seats after some of the comments and policies made since the party started. I would consider that the Greens lose of any votes to this party (or any other party) shows a concerning trend to elections in any state and even federally.

This actually shows how baddly the ALP and the GREENS have got it wrong. IMO

Typically efjay, I didn't expect you being able to differentiate between a war fought on good grounds and an unjustified war.
And by the way, please don't wrongfully accuse me saying, I don't support Australian troops. That is actually quite low....

in your OPINION its unjustified...but your OPINION counts for nothing.
Your post showed you have NO respect for our troops nor does it show you support them in any way.

The UN didn't back the Iraq war, so it is unjustified!!!
It was started based on a lie, even the last idiot on this planet cannot or will not argue against that!
And once more, don't twist my words, only because I regard the above mentioned war as unjustified (not only in my humble opinion, but the opinion of the majority of people on this planet) doesn't mean I don't stand behind our troops. Get it?
Learn other lingos, and you soon will find out for yourself....

No but generally the UN takes rational opinions on international matters.
