It is simple, If you look at what else they proclaim. Boat people, abortion and war just to name a few. The population issue would mean they may have to face the problem that Human rights may need to be assaulted to address this problem. Suddenly, they would appear to be hypocritical.

It is a world problem that really does need addressing as the population although growing is actually aging. people are living longer meaning they need to be supported longer.
What should one do? simple answer would be to let a certain amount of the population (of the world) just die without medical aid or sustenance. But that would be cruel and against the Green policy (not party policy, just idealism) Among other things.

It really has nothing to do with money as many around the world would exploit situations to line their own pocket. But more of a credibility issue as they have no answer.

Some time back I read somewhere about the theory, that from 2040 the world population will be going downhill. That means if we don't have another big war earlier.
But despite that, we need to act now on nowadays problems, instead of referring to it can't be done anyway or whatever we do now doesn't make sense because of bla bla bla bla bla....
    Cheers

Yes look I'm not a Greenie or a new age warrior, or even a socialist. God I would be a dead man up here in Katter Country. lol. However I would say I am a realist. You don't have to be a brain surgeon to realise that the world is going down hill. Now we can talk about the use of fossil fuels, pollution, global warming etc., etc. you have to ask yourself what is at the core of the issue. answer is HUMANS. Simple common sense would suggest that the more people we have the more consumables that will be consumed.

Now the rich western world economies are putting pressure on the third world to clean up their act. Bit rich I say. Considering we have lived high on the hog and gained a magnificent lifestyle all the while going along happily polluting and using everything at our disposal. Now we sit here and tell China, India, and other Asian nations to clean up their act. I know I for one can't blame them for wanting something better for themselves.

So where does this leave us.......deep in the crap I think !

We may be able to slow world population, China is a good example. However education is the key. China always had a pretty good education system, as well as a fairly fierce population control policy. India on the other hand has neither and will have neither in the foreseeable future. Bangladesh, Indonesia, and lets not forget the worlds biggest concern, Africa. Eduscation is basically non existent in these countries unless you are from affluence. That is how the powers that be want it, thus that is how it will stay.

Forget Global Warming, it is global population that is the real threat.

Am I right that the greens lost 27% of their previous voter base? From 11 % to 8 % nationally?

I can`t believe they did so well.
