Very little of that is socialism. And 'everyone must work' is a keystone of socialism. There is no free lunch, for anyone. That's how you know it's socialism. Capitalism is the only system wherein people can opt out of productivity (and will pay the price in lack of progress, but not die of starvation), because there is so much profit that non-productive members can be carried.

No, it's capitalism. And it's what MUST be done when individualism is the model, instead of collectivism. When people refuse to collect, they have no other source of security but random strangers (ie, tax payers). They rely entirely upon the capitalist economy to support them in the pursuit of their capitalist individualism.

I'm sure you can call anything you do socialism, if you're determined to pretend.

Does it fund non-productive members who aren't very old, very young, or infirm?

It's ALL capitalism, if it's funded via the profits of enterprise. And it IS funded via the profits of enterprise.

Go read a dictionary and discussion of socialism from any university, then reference it. Until then burp.

Dictionaries and universities controlled by effete middle class Westerners who think socialism is sitting in overpriced Portland cafes discussing reparations? Eating and drinking the benefits of their overt capitalism?

I'm an economist. Do you ask your doctor for sources?

Anyway, I gave you a source. Did you read it?

What’s your point ? You don’t want to be called Socialist ? We already know you participate and pay into social programs which according to your own reference, is socialism.

He is not a socialist. Neither are you, unless you happen to live in collective. Do you?

Socialism in the modern sense is the system of every modern country but the United States but we are close. "We are all socialists now!" -president of Finland when ObamaCare passed...

The modern definition is simply always Democratic Fair capitalism with a good safety net. And yes we can afford it it will not turn us into Europeans. More like Australians and new zealanders and Canadians.

No they are not. We don't employ any socialism at all at the state level. If we did, you would live a VERY different life to that which you now live.

It's not the system of ANY first world democracy. All that happened in Scandinavia was that their capitalism was robust enough to pay for lots of luxury services, and the people were aligned enough to vote them in.
