“I come to the Senate floor today to ask my Republican colleagues a question,” she began. “Do you have any idea what year it is? Did you fall down, hit your head, and think you woke up in the 1950s? Or the 1890s? Should we call for a doctor?”

“Because I simply cannot believe that in the year 2015, the United States Senate would be spending its time trying to defund women’s healthcare centers. On second thought, maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. The Republicans have had a plan for years to strip away women’s rights to make choices over our own bodies.”

MSNBC’s Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough attacked Massachusetts Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren for standing up for Planned Parenthood in a way he considered insulting to voters’ intelligence.

“Let’s be really clear about something,” Warren said on the Senate floor. “The Republican scheme to defund Planned Parenthood is not some sort of surprised response to a highly edited video. Nope, it’s just one more piece of a deliberate, methodical, orchestrated right wing attack on women’s rights.”

But Scarborough was having none of it. “There are pro-choice people that believe fervently in the right of a woman to choose, who are equally repulsed, disgusted by those videos…” he said. “And for Elizabeth Warren to try to conflate the right of a woman to choose with the horror and grotesqueness of what is discussed over lunch is really unfortunate.”

“Planned Parenthood is not synonymous with women’s health. You can have women’s health or you can have an organization that takes care of women’s health, without having the number one abortion provider who speaks so callously over lunch about the harvesting of unborn children,” he continued. “I’m saying, conflating the right to choose with Planned Parenthood, conflating taxpayer dollars with protecting women’s health, that’s just a red herring.”

“Nice try Elizabeth Warren, nice try,” Scarborough said. “It’s only going to get worse for Planned Parenthood. I agree with Hillary Clinton, there are troubling things on those tapes. And everybody needs to open their eyes and see that, instead of reflexively talking about right wing attacks on a woman’s right to choose.”

“Please stop insulting our intelligence, Elizabeth Warren,” he concluded. “Stop.”

I never understood why liberals use themselves as the template in how they view those that disagree with them.

 

With the prices they are getting for baby body parts on the open meat market and the advent of Obama Care insurance providing contraceptives and medical treatment for other women's health issues, they don't need our direct tax money support anymore. We're just double paying. Do they want Obama Care insurance money or tax dollars.....they can't have both.

I'll just go out on a limb and say that it has a lot to do with her credibility. She thought she was an indian, and now she's asking if the people that have exposed PP fell and hit their head.

 

It's embarrassing that this kind of rhetoric is applauded by the left. MSNBC will be running this on a loop. I can see the snarky faces now.

How many Planned Parenthood facilities are in the U.S.? Last I heard it was 900 or so. Now, how many health facilities are in the U.S., which are not abortion facilities, and do provide (actually provide, not just refer) women's services. If Planned Parenthood were shut down tomorrow, women would not lose any access at all. That is the biggest crock ever.

These are the same people who say if Walmart were shutdown tomorrow, people would still have access to needed goods.

 

The pitiful creature didn't "castigate" anyone. All she did was make herself more of a fool than she already was.

Why is it so hard to figure out what this story is about? Why are liberals so damned dense? Why do they hear 1/4 of a story and run like a dog with a stick, never bothering to get the whole story? How in God's Green Earth can they be so incredibly stupid as to think this is about women's health care?

We don't all have Obama care. Childless woman under the poverty line cannot afford healthcare under the ACA. Many states did not expand Medicaid coverage for childless women. Planned Parenthood offers services on a sliding scale basis. Many woman, particularly in rural areas, depend on Planned Parenthood for their healthcare needs.
