So? The poor do not belong in big expensive cities. Such places are already far too congested, expecting them to house anyone who feels like living there is a Disneyesque absurdity.
They shouldn't be in cities ... at ALL. They should be herded out to rural and remote areas, and housed there.
Most Christians (that I know) don't count Osteen as one of theirs. Anyone making that kind of money doing "God's work" is questionable IMO.
And if they starve or freeze to death, at least then you “compassionate Conservatives” don’t have to see it, right?
There was a segment on a local radio station where a social worker for the homeless had written in stating that there is plenty of section 8 housing on the east side of Los Angeles but the homeless refuse because they want to be near the beach.
Increase government funded programs to help with mental health and addiction. Increase the number of shelters and eliminate the stupid religious requirements so many of them have. Increase taxes to fund both.
Homeless need to be either institutionalized (many of them are nuts) or publicly flogged out of the city and if they try to turn around and come back they should be pelted with eggs. Having grown up around them, with a few exceptions such as vets with actual trauma issues, most of these people are lazy **** ups and drug addicts who can't be bothered to get their **** together and work an actual job or they are mentally ill and need to be hospitalized. By and large they are useless turds that need to be mocked and ridiculed out of town. If you see and able bodied homeless person buy them a sandwich or something to eat and watch how often they will turn it down because they want the cash instead. If they turn down food you offer them and demand cash then mock and denigrate them nonstop until they leave and never come back. I highly suggest buying a carton of eggs and smashing them all over their belongings since it will reek and sticky up all their crap. Fitting since they have no problem reeking and stickying up everyone else's lives with their filth.
Conservatives that run shelters and food banks also work and pay taxes. Theses are the people you were trying to insult.
When i was in london last year i was a bit shocked at the amount of homeless people i encountert there but california brings it to a whole new level.
You mean the stupid religious requirements of the funders? So you'd prefer private charities either comply or save their money and let the govt (taxpayers) handle homeless shelters? Not a very good solution. Throwing money at a problem rarely works, esp when its govt run. A better solution is for California to elect a Republican governor and Republican mayors and start draining their own swamp. Homelessness isnt the problem... its a symptom of a much bigger problem... looney lefties in charge.
The religious requirements are clearly a detriment because homeless people would rather be on the street than be preached at.
Their choice. Just like being homeless is their choice in the majority of cases. Atheists are welcome to open homeless shelters too. They could unpreach to all the wretched souls. Ever wonder why they dont?
Ah so its more important for conservatives to make people bow to their imaginary sky fairy than it is to help people?
They are arrested for vagrancy, public property damage, drugs, alcohol, accumulation of garbage, etc etc. This dogged insistence that homelessness strikes randomly, to good and decent and hardworking people, is idiotic .... and worse, it does nothing to help those who are lost to it. If you keep pretending it's not their fault, they will never change.
Vagrancy - "Being so poor you have nowhere else to go" Accumulation of garbage - "Being so poor you can't afford a garbage can and a pickup service" Are you going to claim all homeless people are on drugs, alcohol, and damage public property?
Freedom of religion is more important than political correctness. Not as nasty as yours, but so far, its still a free country. Boycott whichever shelter you choose.
What? I'm not advocating dumping them in a Nebraskan paddock in winter with nothing more than a sleeping bag. I'm the one who thinks the solution is tiny houses and self-sufficiency, remember? Or maybe you didn't read all those other threads in which I trumpeted the idea.
